Description of “Hipster’s”

Offer nothing new to the table creatively:

Recycle past fashions and musical genre’s, making nothing new.

Lazy, self absorbed in things like fashion and otherwise.

Hipster’s in denial:

• Different from other counter culture movements, because they deny what they are:

• Punk’s are proud of who they are:

• Rare for Hipster’s to proclaim who they are:

• Hypocritical = denying that you are one, while wearing cloths that clearly define it.

Thesis• Hipster’s shouldn’t be considered a counter-culture in the sense that

Punk or other movements are; they are uncreative:

• Reason’s being:

• Recycle past counterculture movements

• Repeatedly deny who they belong to, while wearing cloths and doing things that symbolize that group.

• Because they are self involved & isolated = they do not feed the cultural evolution defined by Punk and other such movements; Changes in fashion and music, etc.

“Hipster’s – A Sub and Counter Culture” on psupopculture.wordpress.com

• Disagrees with 1st article:

Hipsters, “Reject mainstream consumerism & culture…” Definition of counterculture.

• Argues that blending ideals of other cultures creates one unique common identity, rather than becoming an uncreative jumbled mess.

Each individual Hipster actually has unique tastes, rather than becoming eclectic messes. Hang out with people of similar ideals, rather than being alone and isolated from others; not contributing to same ideals.
