EDUCATION

KALIKA Free Coaching CentreEducation has always been a determinant of one’s income and upward mobility. Provision of education right

from the primary stage assumes significance. To enhance education two numbers of Free Coaching Centre

(KALIKA) is being monitored and run. At present 106 children from Primary Level have enroll their name in

two centre. In last 08 months total 848 students have been benefited from this coaching

Providing Free Learning material for study centre(Kalika)To make sure that education do not get hamper due to non availability of study material, we also provide all

the education and other learning materials to these students in a phased manner.

Parents Teachers MeetTo closely monitor the children, PTM is organized in both the centers where counseling is done to the

parents and Prize is also been given to the Best Student of the month. In last 08 months total 1200 parents

have been benefited from this coaching

Teachers TrainingTeachers popularly known as Volunteers get periodical training to enhance their teaching ability, where the

teachers’ learnt various methods of teaching. Master trainer from PRATHAM, The NGO engaged with

Education, hired to facilitate this Training program. Up to November 2014 one training program has been

conducted and total 20 teachers attended the program.

Celebration of Independence DayIndependence Day was Celebrated with full enthusiasm in 08 Schools where 1520 students and parents

witnessed the event and were also educated as well as reminded about the great sacrifices of our National

Heros.

Education Assistance to Girl Child for EducationEncouragement for Education of Girl Chile is our prime Focus. We tried to help and promote such cases so

that the education among Girls in rural area will develop. Till now we have helped financially one Girl for

college education, many other will be taken care of by end of this financial year.

Shifting of a Primary School from Temporary Building to Permanent BuildingFinancial help was extended towards the shifting of one primary school from a temporary school building to

its Permanent Building. 60 Students were benefited with this.

Providing Building for Running of Anganwadi CentreWe have provided building to run Pandoloi Anganwadi centre by which presently 25 children are getting

benefited.

New Admission of Drop Out Children in regular Education To join the main stream education , we took one initiative by our counselling the drop out children to again

join the school. In this we have covered one full village by enrolling all the children in school. Total 20

children were benefited with this.

Adult Education Centre & Special Coaching for Girl Child All the adult in our society need to understand their rights, Govt. Schemes, Reading the papers they are

signing for etc. to avail all the rights entrusted to them by law. Keeping the great thought in mind we have

started ADULT EDUCATION this year. Presently we have opened only two centers. With immense pleasure

we say that out of total 62 enrollment in these two centers 90% people are above the age of 60 years.

Observation of Children's DayChildren’s Day was observed in many Primary school where students participated in various competition.

Sweet distribution and motivational speech of various local leaders were one of the prime attraction of the

events.

Children’s sports at Primary School levelChildren’s Sports were also organized at Tileimal Primary school and Golamal Primary & M. E. Schools.

Around 400 children participated in the different event like long jump, running, frog jump, Sack Race,

Skipping Race, Puchchi, Fancy Dress, Musical Chair etc. etc. and won prizes in the respective category.

Health Camps

Health Camps are conducted to provide specialized consultancy as well as free medicine to

the villagers.

Supply of drinking water in Summer

This being a very arid area people face drinking water problem during summer. We are

supplying Drinking Water through tanker every year since 2009. This year we have supplied

almost 103 tankers daily while covering 122 Hamlets/Villages.

Community Dispensary

To improve the health facility we have started a Community Dispensary at core plant area

which is located at Sardhapali village of Lapnga GP. People og three Gram Panchayats are

getting benefited out of this as we provided free Medical Consultancy 6 days a week.

Inter-Sectorial Co-Ordination and Planning Meeting for Prevention of Dengue

Prevention and ControlWe are responsible for good health of our stakeholders. Keeping the last year Dengue patients numbers we

Had conducted Preparation meeting much before the time to reduce the Dengue cases remarkably where

authorities of District Health Department, Block Development Office, ASHA Workers, Anganwadi Workers,

Social Workers Garm Swasthya Karmees and many more were presented and got trained to lead the

Awareness Drive. Training was imparted to almost 350 persons.

Dengue Prevention and Control drive in 06 PanchayatsAfter the Training Dengue Prevention & Control drive were ornganized in 06 Gram Panchayats where

cleaning, awareness program, Mike Announcement etc. were part of the drive actions.

Distribution of Healthy Dry Food PacketsDry Healthy Food Packets were distributed among all the Indoor patients of Rengali Block PHC and District

Hospital, Samabalpur. They were also gifted with Flowers, Get-well soon Cards. Patients in Pediatric Ward

were given Chocolates also.

Sanitation & Cleanliness Two nos of program on sanitation and cleanliness were organized at Bhursipali and Bhalududia village. 51

members from five SHGs, school children and other community members also participated in the event.

Around 100 community members and children witnessed the event. They learnt about the importance of

sanitation and cleanliness to lead a healthy life. During the awareness session they learnt different

techniques of hand wash and importance of toilet. Apart from this the group members taught about the

symptoms and treatment of Dengue, Malaria and Diarrhea. The group members too learnt the techniques for

preparation of ORS for treatment of Diarrhea. After the meeting five nos of

open well were chlorinated and the stagnant water from the living areas was cleared by the group members.

Healthy baby competitionHealthy Baby competition was organized at village Tileimal, 60 Parents mostly mothers with their children

were present. The program started with an interactive form. The key resource person

Dr. Mahendra Nanda, MD; Govt. Hospital discussed about the meaning and need of a Healthy Baby in a

more technical yet simple way while advising to maintain birth spacing norms, personal hygiene norms, the

two child norms and must be covered under growth monitoring and vaccination program.

Awareness camp on Tuber Colossis04 of Awareness program on Tuberculosis have been organized till date this year. Nearly 300 people

participated in these camp. Resources person Dr. Mahendra Nanda, MD; Govt. Hospital educated the

community members regarding the symptoms, treatment and methods of testing. He also warned the

community members regarding the dangerous consequences of negligence of not testing and not taking the

medicine. For information he also said drugs like, Rifampicin (R), Pyrazinamide (Z), Ethambutol, (E) and

streptomycin (S) are used in the treatment of TB patients, all drugs are given three times weekly.

Awareness program on Reproductive health One Awareness program on Reproductive Health was organized. Ladies and particularly Expecting Ladies

were educated about good food, immunization, medicine, quantity and quality of exercise required etc.

Awareness program on other healthy practices Healthy Practices makes one healthy and help to avoid diseases. With this initiative this camp was

organised which was attended by nearly 150 community members. Instead of just providing medicine

making aware of the hazards of diseases and its long impact on human body is more important, this was the

intension behind such program.

Awareness program on Girl Child Health Care Girl Child needs more care and particularly female in foeticide should not exist in the society was the

intension of such program. About 300 community members were present in two camps conducted with the

said topics.

Awareness program on Adolescent Girl & Menopause Health CareRural female face various problem during Adolescent and Menopause stage. Out of Social and cultural

system they do not express that and which force them to face serious heath problems. To guide them

correctly we had organized two camps to create awareness which was attended by 116 gilrs and ladies.

Awareness program through Video ShowsMany educative Good Health practices and care were shown to community members through video shows

as audio visual has a better impact and help to learn fast.

Sustainable LivelihoodNew SHG Forming and Distribution of SHG Account book, Boxes Etc.

Strengthening SHG is one of our focus area. This also adds tremendously to Women Empowerment.

This year we have established 06 New SHGs while providing growth platform to 60 Rural women.

Strengthening SHGs, Conducting weekly meetingsExisting SHG need to be streamlined. Motivating them for conducting weekly meeting instead of Monthly

meeting was the main challenge for us. As on date all 39 SHGs are conducting their weekly meeting

without fail. It is itself an achievement for us. Fine, Rate of Interest, celebration and other disciplinary

system has been inducted to every SHG. Training imparted to 34 SHG till date while 349 members have

been benefited out of this.

One day SHG book keeping trainingTo strengthen the accounting system which is the foundation of SHG and way for development we are

imparting the Book keeping training to SHGs. From April’14 till date total 04 nos of training have been

imparted while benefiting 40 members.

Mega SHG TrainingThere was a mega SHG Training program where 250 members of 15 SHGs of the locality participated in

the event. Mr. Satya Behera (Retd.FEO) was the resource person of the program. He trained the

participants on strengthening the SHGs and give effective leadership to the community. There was also a

quiz program where the members took part and received prizes.

Mega SHG MeetOne mega SHG Meet has been conducted where 450 members of 34 SHG and other attended the get-

together camp which was inaugurated by Special Land Acquisition Officer. There they were trained by

CDPO on all the above mentioned point. These type of SHG get-to-gather always pays its dividend while

creating utmost sense of adopting self employment for better life and income.

Inter group(SHGs) visit to replicate good work to expand and strengthen their group

1-60Seven SHGs of Bhursipali,Bhalupatra & Ludhapali attended this visit. They had interaction with the host

SHG (Maa Laxmi). Community members interacted with each other during inter group visit . About 80

visiting members got training on Phynol making. Five SHG members form Ultratech cement , Dhutra

also joined the training program.

Fish Cultivation ( Composite Pisciculture) Nikhil SHG was trained and is into this business since last many months. Other SHG are also motivated

to enter into this business. Keeping the empowerment in view one Orientation program was conducted in

this regard while benefiting 12 beneficiaries.

Banaraja Chick DistributionTo enhance the capacity building of Community members we have distributed Banaraja variety of chicks

have been distributed. This has been increased their monthly income by Rs.1000/- per month.

Distribution of various Fruit Bearing Plant SaplingsSapling of fruit bearing plants distributed among 410 beneficiaries. Training on Kitchen Garden were also

imparted. Organic vegetable and its good effect on health is a topic which we address many a times. In a

result all the beneficiary who have received saplings and kitchen Garden seeds are growing good

vegetables.

Training on Mushroom CultivationTo create livelihood option and with less expenditure and by using less land area was a big challenge for

us. After exploring all the avenues we landed up with “Mushroom Cultivation “ keeping the climate and

market of this area. After lot of communication and many round of training, SHG members have

developed business plan and invested their money as proposed. Initially, 06 SHG agreed to it and joined

the training program actively in the year 1012. Now, many of the community members are interested to

go for mushroom cultivation. This year till date we have trained 242 Community members in 22 training

and demonstration camp for Mushroom Cultivation.

Refresher Training on Fish CultivationNikhil SHG is into Fish Cultivation since last few months and has established itself well while increasing

its monthly income by Rs.3000/- per member. We understand that they are new to this trade and need

time to time refresher training to make themselves perfect. Our aim is to create trainer from them only to

replicate the program in other areas. We had organized one training program and 10 members of the

SHG attended the same.

Training on kitchen GardeningThis is basically an arid area. Our CSR program is promoting a practice of waste water management

through simple and low cost kitchen gardens at all our periphery villages which will help villager to

produce their vegetables that too in organic way. This will help them to provide good and balanced diet to

their family. Till date we have imparted total 4 nos of training while benefiting 110 community organiser.

Promotion and Demonstration of Vegetable Cultivation on 03 acre of landA demonstration program of vegetable cultivation was organized at Bhursipali on Dt. 20.11.2014. A group

of 25 farmers together are growing Utkal Kumari variety of tomato here. Seed was distributed to them

and new farming technology was demonstrated before them by Mr. B. N.Tripathy, the resource person.

Vermi-compost Classroom TrainingMost of the people around this area are into agriculture. Requirement of vermi-compost , its importance

and way to develop it as a business were discussed among 45 participants of three SHGs. They also

learnt the basics of vermi compost preparation. Mr. B. N. Tripathy was the resource person on the

occasion.

Promotion of better agricultural practices for better use of landA Training and demonstration program on Promotion of Better Agriculture Practices for better use of

land was organised. It was attended by 200 community members and they were trainined about the

quality of soil, better crop matching to the soil quality, marketing of their crops etc.

Orientation program on HealthAn orientation program on health was conducted at where 35 members of the community participated.

The resource person of the program was Ms. Mariam Sibil, who informed the community members about

various schemes such as Mamata Yojana, Janani Suraksha Yojana etc. being run by Govt. This program

also served the purpose of empowering the community members with enough information and

awareness with regard to their health and problems confronted by them.

Orientation program on Govt. SchemesAn orientation program on Govt. Scheme was conducted at Lahamani where 40 members of the

community participated. The resource person Mr. Kishor Ch. Khichdi(I. E. O,Jangla), informed the

community members about various schemes such as Biju Gram Jyoti Yojana, MGNREGS, Mo Kudiya

Yojana, Mo Pokhari Yojana etc. being run by Govt. This program also served the purpose of empowering

the community members with enough information and awareness with regard to their daily life and

problems confronted by them.

Orientation program on Livelihood Till date two orientation program on livelihood had been organized which was attended by 80 Community

members. Mr. B. N. Tripathy was the resource person who explained the participants on the potentiality

of floriculture in the area. He emphasized that this can be a good source of income for the local farmers.

Community members were also guided how to distribute their source of earning among the family

members etc. etc.

Social Causes

Promotion to Puja/ Sports & Cultural ActivitiesTo maintain, revive and support the tradition and culture of this tribal area we always have extended our

support in various form. We also promote the sports activities to encourage the youth to remain healthy.

This year till date we have contributed Rs.2,00,000/- lacs in many ways while reaching 8200 people.

Flood Relief ContributionIn the month of August Flood created havoc in the district of Sambalpur particularly in the Sambalpur

Town. Entire town was merged in flood water. 24 relief camps were established to smoothen the relief

work. District Administration was on relief work round the clock. AAP understand the values of Human life

and, therefore, AAP also joined the hands with District Administration while providing many water pump

for De-watering of flood water. Almost 200 people of one area were benefited out of this help.

Provided New Clothing to Flood affected peopleWe had also provided Saree, Lungi, Dhoti and Gamchha to Flood affected people while reaching nearly

300 foold affected people.

Celebration of Festivals and National Day with CommunityWe make sure that few Important Days we must celebrate with communities giving more importance to

the local traditional festivals, National Days etc. This brings them more closer to us which helps us to

implement various Developmental Activities for them smoothly.
