The Hilti Top Stop Tool Repair Program limits exposure to highrepair costs by establishing a maximum repair billing forspecified tool models. If tool repair charges exceed the standard TopStop limit for the tool the customer is billed only the amount allowed by

Top Stop for that tool. If repair charges are less than the Top Stop

amount the customer is only billed for the work completed.

Whether its a tool requiring regular service to provide peak

performance and long life or a tool in need of repair, Hilti Repair

Centers are equipped to complete repairs to the highest standards. Hilti

Repair Technicians utilize state-of-the-art technology and equipment

designed specifically for Hilti machines to complete high quality, quick

turnaround repairs. All tools are inspected and tested before being

returned to the customer.

When comparing rotary hammersand combihammers, four things mustbe taken into consideration: singleimpact energy, impact frequency, theshape of the impact pulse and therotation angle between the impacts. Allfour have to be considered beforestating one tool is faster, better orstronger than another. It is important tounderstand the four criteria of optimumdrilling performance and how they worktogether. Single Impact Energy

Single impact energy measureshow hard the tool hits. It is important tonote that tool manufacturers do not all

measure single impactenergy in the same way.For example, Hiltimeasures the energytransferred from the

point of the shortestchisel to the work surface

while our biggest competitor measuresthe energy transferred from the strikerpiston to the the impact point on the

connection end. This means that ourcompetitors testing method will resultin a higher measure of single impactenergy.Impact Frequency

The impact pulse delivered by ahammer drill or concrete breaker canbe determined by the tool

This is illustratedby the flatter curve in the impact pulsediagram. The higher arcing curve on theimpact pulse diagram illustrates animpact pulse designed for goodchiseling performance. The energy foreach example in our diagram is equal.The difference between them is theshape of the energy curvebecause the force has beenapplied differently over time.

Rotation Angle Between Impacts

The rotation anglebetween impacts is the locationwhere the carbide head of the drill bit

strikes the concrete as it is drilling thehole. The rotation angle is determinedby the impact frequency (BPMs) andspeed (rpm). This part of the optimumdrilling formula is where Hilti alsoprovides better value to theircustomers. Hilti is the only power toolmanufacturer in the industry thatoptimizes its concrete drilling systemsby ensuring that the drill bit designworks with the tools in which they areused. Hilti hammer drills are designedto turn the carbide head of Hilti drill bitsbetween each impact on the concreteso that it does not strike in the sameplace during each revolution. Thisoptimizes the breakage of the concrete

under the carbide of the drill bit.If the carbide rotation angle is

not optimal, the carbide willstrike the concrete in thesame locations repeatedly.This would lead to slower

removal rates and shorterdrill bit life.
