121 million children, including 65 million girls, have no opportunity to attend primary school

In developing countries, only 1 child in 3 completes 5 years of schooling

For socially disadvantaged children (rural, urban poor, indigenous, special needs, Aids orphans,...) access to quality education is virtually impossible

=> With the higher need for real learning, the status quo is untenable
