Polyurethane Synthetic Patch™ and Epoxy WVCO Polyurethane Synthetic Patch™ and Epoxy products are two-
component patching compounds are designed to repair defects, upgrade and
add value to your wood products. When A and B components are mixed
together a chemical reaction occurs that results in a quick transition from liquid
to solid form.
1. Polyurethane Synthetic Patch™ - (PU)
PU is pumped and metered through Willamette Valley Company
equipment systems and dispensed via hand-held guns or automatic
valves fitted with a static mix tube. PU is the solution for most high
volume requirements for the repair of knots and splits in plywood face
veneer, laminated beams, edge-glued panels, solid wood, moulding,
sash and door, and other wood products.
Most formulas are metered at a 6:1 ratio, A to B (resin & MDI
isocyanate). Flow is quick and uniform as it is dispensed to repair points.
Chemical reaction transitions from liquid to solid within 15-90 seconds
depending the formula and environmental variables. Cured polyurethane
can be sanded, planed, or machined. Specific formulas are compatible
with overlay film, laminating glues, stains, sealers, and paints.
2. Epoxy
The WVCO series of epoxy formulas allow both equipment metering and
hand-mix and applied options. Epoxies are mixed at a 1:1 ratio, A to B.
Pigments are contained in the B component to provide a visual mixing
reference for hand mixed and applied formulas.
Epoxy is a solution for specialty high volume requirements and all
medium to small operations. Epoxy is used to repair knots and splits in
plywood face veneer, laminated beams, edge-glued panels, solid wood,
moulding, sash and door, and many other wood products. Specific
formulas are compatible with overlay films (PSF, Melamine, MDO, HDO,
etc.), laminating glues, stains, sealers, and paints.
Epoxy is the product for repairing plywood prior to the texturing process
used to produce rough sawn panel siding.
The WVCO epoxy series offers a variety of set times accommodating all
production requirements. Cured epoxy can be sanded, planed, or
machined.
Standard and custom colors are available.
All products meet or exceed APA - American Plywood Association
testing requirements.
Water-based Putty Water-based putty is formulated for filling small surface defects found in a wide
variety of wood products. Putty dries to a solid form as the water content
evaporates. Water-base putty exhibits minimal shrinkage when dried, thus
overfilling is recommended prior to sanding.
There are three general types of water-base putty:
1. WB 264 Knife Grade Face Putty - Hand Applied with Putty Knife
2. WB 264 Gun Grade Face Putty - Pumped to Putty Gun
3. WB Machine Grade – Putty Knife or Putty Gun for Vertical Repairs
Available Containment:
 IBC (tote) Container - 1.000 L / 265 gal.
 Steel Drums - 200 L / 55 gal.
 Plastic Pails - 19 L / 5 gal.
All containers U.N. approved
Polyurethane Synthetic Patch™ - APPLICATION
1. Metered Application
Polyurethane Synthetic Patch™ is delivered by WVCO metering
equipment to hand-held dispensing guns in perfect ratio. Essential
training of line operators and maintenance personnel is provided.
A and B chemicals meet and mix in the static mix tube attached to the
dispensing gun. The system is designed for high production repairs, thus
to accommodate intermittent stops or end of shift, a water flush
mechanism cleans the mix tube of chemical prolonging its use.
Triggering the chemical for 2-3 seconds purges the water to resume
work.
Heated Trace Lines control the temperature of the A chemical, which
allows acceleration of set time (reaction speed) and viscosity (flow
characteristics).
Temperature control is a seasonal advantage, whereby the same
chemical can be adjusted to set quickly in cold winter months or slower
in the hot summer, conveniently accommodating your process
requirements.
2. Automatic and Robotic Application The Precision Technologies Division (PRE-TEC, www.pre-tec.com) of
WVCO has defined itself by applying scientific knowledge and innovative
manufacturing techniques to the development of turn-key solutions.
Pre-Tec specializes in the design and manufacture of custom metering,
proportioning, and dispensing systems. These systems fit variety of
industrial applications that require accurate proportioning and dispensing
of single and multi-component liquid materials. The systems are
designed to meter and dispense polyurethane, epoxy, putty, and a
variety of primers, paints, sealers, and adhesives.
Partnering through service means one-on-one interaction with each
customer to develop the most appropriate, affordable, and reliable
solutions for your service needs. PRE-TEC in cooperation with Surface
Solutions GmbH offers support in areas of training, programming, spare
parts, and preventive maintenance.
