Appendix A

In this appendix, we provide a series of tables that list districts and schools performing either better or worse than expected on the SBAC and CST ELA assessments. Below, the districts on the left provide examples of the districts where high-need students are scoring relatively well, compared to other districts with similar numbers of disadvantaged students. The districts on the right are examples of struggling districts, at least as measured by the SBAC in year one.

Appendix B

In this appendix, we provide a series of tables that list districts and schools performing either better or worse than expected on the SBAC and CST math assessments. Below, the districts on the left provide examples of the districts where high-need students are scoring relatively well, compared to other districts with similar numbers of disadvantaged students. The districts on the right are examples of struggling districts, at least as measured by the SBAC in year one.

Source: Authors’ calculations using district share of high-need students from LCFF Snapshot (2013-14) and SBAC test results (2014-15), both available at CDE.

Notes: Schools where fewer than 100 English learners were tested were not included. Green highlights signifies district also on list of top 100 CST performers; orange highlights signifies also on bottom 100 CST performers. Schools only needed to be in operation for one test to be included in our analysis. County Office of Education schools (16 in total) were included.
