Server Switching in the Old TwinStar
• Both servers were started as Slave/Slave
• Server assigned master after all Astribanks register (DAHDI limitation)
• When last Astribank has left the Active server then it will be automatically deactivated
• At least one Astribank had to be present in the system

Server Switching in TwinStar Plus
• Switching does not depend on Astribanks • “Heartbeat” monitoring of the other server's
health • Once master server failure is detected the
resource manager of the “slave” server will activate it as master
• Astribanks do not limit slave from becoming master and vice versa
• When Astribanks are not fully switched there is no effect on the rest of the system
