Degrees Students who successfully complete a one year study

program are eligible for TWO degrees:

A Master Degree awarded by the University of

Paris 1, Panthéon-Sorbonne, and A diploma from UFE.

Students who enroll for two years are eligible for a

Master Degree from the Université Française d’E-

gypte (choice now pending).

What will you study? Over three days, normally Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in afternoon (4 to

8:30 pm) you will join your class mates for lectures or seminars. Site field and

tours, museum visits and other activities are normally preserved to Saturdays.

The teaching program is in 2 semesters (12 weeks each). The third semester is

devoted to internship and thesis research and writing in one of the cultural

heritage management specialities.

Courses are taught in ENGLISH, and consist of a consecutive series of modules

allowing you to gain professional skills in IT applications, project management,

social dimensions of heritage and society, and the importance of heritage in

economics and development. You will then be introduced to specialized

courses in Archaeological Site Management, Cultural Tourism, principles of

Architectural and Urban Heritage, and Museum Management and Operation.

The program is co-directed by Prof. Fekri Hassan, Université Française d’Egypte, emeritus Petrie

Professor of Archaeology, University College London, and Prof. Maria Gravari-Barbas, Director

of the Institut de Recherche et d’Etudes Supérieures du Tourisme (IREST), UNESCO Chair in

Cultural Tourism, University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. Our program is distinguished by an

outstanding team of more than 30 Egyptian, French and international academics and professionals.

Master Degree In Cultural Heritage Management

An Interdisciplinary program offered jointly by the Université Française d’Egypte and the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.

Heritage is more than monuments. It is the living memory of the nation and a

resource for social and economic development. Heritage includes all the

manifestations that have survived from the past, ranging from temples,

mosques, monasteries to historical houses, and from proverbs, artworks and

tales to musical performances, festivals and celebrations. In this unique Mas-

ter’s Program you will learn how to manage the varied, and rich resources of

our diverse cultural heritage, and will be introduced to how to mobilize such

resources for social and economic development.
