ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUMThe 1st International Symposium on Law & Peace (ISLP) aims to become one of the brightest beacons to herald peace and harmony through the lens of law. The ISLP strives to provide a common platform to Legal Professionals, Youths, Policy Planners, Thinkers and Global Society at large, where they can come together, for the dialogue, open discussions, deliberations and can use the platform to recommend measures, to address conflict resolution through peace building processes, to promote the culture of peace and harmony, for digitally dynamic and complex society.The Symposiumis a unique platform for non-political and non-aligned deliberations between Judges, Lawyers, Jurists, Adjudicators, Legal Advisors, Mediators, Academicians, Policy Makers, Social Observers, Industry Personnel, Youth, and Society at large to meet, exchange perspectives, and to share best practices, relating to the promotion of ethical and spirited leadership and for promoting sustainable peace and development processes through Law & Justice.

FOCUS OF THE SYMPOSIUMLaw plays a crucial role in building the peace processes, by resolving the disputes and underlying conflicts.The purpose of the Symposium is to provide collaborative platform to explore various measures, dimensions and way forward with regards to Role of Law to Promote the Culture of Peace. Keeping in mind the changing dynamics of Law & Society, the Symposium endeavours to initiate dialogue on Socio-legal issues of global society and for promoting peace building processes.

The theme of the Symposium revolves around focussing the Lens of Law in spreading and promoting Peace in global context, by initiating open discussions and deliberations for creating sensitization about Law & Peace building processes for addressing the various challenges & issues of global society.

The path towards attainment of peace is always full of hurdles, however, legal deliberations can act as an important scaffolding for the construction of a peaceful culture. The legal fraternity is envisioned to be the harbinger of hope that will lead human beings towards harmony. Law indeed is the means to attain the ultimate goal of peace through amicable dispute settlement and therefore, this international symposium has been incepted to Herald Law to Promote Peace.

Since time immemorial, Law is supreme and it is also the equal driving force in the new age society and plays pivot role in securing peace and justice in complex social matrix. The rule of law is key for sustaining peace building processes. The efficient administration of justice promotes law and peace sustenance in the society. In the international perspective, the UN Charter gives primary responsibility to the UN Security Council for the maintenance of international peace and security. Hence law plays a key role in conflict management and peace processes. Accordingly, one of the measures for peace-building process is, heralding Law to promote justice in the society.

• To appreciate and critically analyse the role of Law in the context of Peace building processes.

• To delineate the tenets of value based legal practices.

• To herald Law to promote peace and harmony in global society.

• To propose road map by addressing challenges and opportunities in the legal field with respect to peace-building.

Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT WPU is the Flagship University of MAEER’s MIT Group of institutes, which has over 100,000 alumni all over the world. World’s Largest Peace Dome - The World’s Wonder

World’s Largest Peace Dome and Symposium Theme RelationshipRevered Prof. Dr. Vishwanath Karad’s Life Mission to establish the ‘Culture of Peace in the World’ and deliverance of ‘Value Based Universal Education’ are embodied in the establishment of ‘World Peace Prayer Hall & World Peace Library’The philosophy of World’s Largest Peace Dome and the theme of the symposium are corelated as both emphasises › Z_moOr AmÚm & doX à[VnmÚm && O` O` ñdg§doÚm && AmË_ê$nm &Meaning there by “Ultimate Truth” – “The Ultimate Reality” – “The Ultimate State of Matter”

The worlds largest dome was inaugurated at Vishwaraj Baug campus at Loni Kalbhor, Pune, Maharashtra, Bharat [India]. It was inaugurated on Oct 02, 2018 by Hon’ble Vice President of India Sh. Venkaiah Naidu on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The dome has been built atop MIT World Peace Library and World Peace Prayer Hall, which is named after the 13th century poet-saint and philosopher Dnyaneshwar who was a pivotal figure of the Bhakti movement in Maharashtra. The World Peace Dome has a diameter of 160 feet, overtaking the earlier record holding of the Vatican Dome which has a diameter of 139.6 feet. It stands 263 feet tall a bell descending from the centre and has a prayer hall with an area of around 30,000 sq ft. It is supported by 24 massive columns, each 63 feet tall. The periphery of the dome and underneath - inside and outside has bronze statues of 54 Peace Leaders (Philosopher Saint Shree Dnyaneshwara, Philosopher Jagadguru Saint Shree Tukaram, Philosopher Swami Vivekananda, Dr. Albert Einstein, Nelson Mandela, Dalai Lama, Martin Luther king Jr.) irrespective of nationality and religion.
