PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The Health Professions Program Coordinator works with students in the Bachelor of Science in Health Professions (BSHP) program, an educational collaboration with Mayo Clinic School of Health Science providing certification in one of four tracks: Echocardiography, Radiography, Respiratory Care, and Sonography. The Health Professions Program Coordinator works closely with the BSHP Admissions Representative to fulfill responsibilities in five major areas: providing overall transfer advising from prospect to matriculation; collaborating with faculty, staff, and system colleagues to facilitate course equivalency determinations; serving as the academic adviser for enrolled BSHP students; developing and maintaining transfer advising materials for prospective students, and developing and delivering programs to prepare prospective students for the application process. The Health Professions Program Coordinator also serves as a member of our Student Success Coaching team and must be available for student advising sessions that may occur before 8:00 a.m. or after 5:00 p.m. given the schedules of BSHP students, making occasional evening work necessary to fulfill the job responsibilities. Visits to regional college campuses, to meet with advisors and occasionally assist recruiters with fairs and events, will also be expected. JOB DUTIES 40% BSHP and transfer student advocacy and advising team participation, 20% Prospective BSHP transfer student advising, 20% Academic advising for BSHP and Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences (BSHS) students, 20% Student development course instruction REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: HEALTH PROFESSIONS PROGRAM COORDINATOR Master’s degree in relevant professional field Three years of experience advising college students Commitment to equal opportunity and diversity issues, including the ability to work with a diverse student, staff, and faculty population Excellent professional workplace skills including the ability to innovate and learn; oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; the ability to be self- motivated, work in a collaborative team environment, and respond well to supervision; time management and organizational skills; computer skills including word processing, email, and database manipulation; the ability to work with complex systems in a fast-paced setting; and the ability to multi-task and pay attention to details Experience tracking and interpreting data relevant to their work and using that information for process improvement PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in student personnel, counseling psychology, counseling or related area Relevant higher education advising experience with health science students and transfer students Knowledge of careers in health sciences Experience in recruiting students for health-related programs Experience using web-based databases, PeopleSoft, and DARS A commitment to knowledge creation and research in higher education
