Born into Eternal Life
Dorey Kuhn Former Principal of Mater Christi School (1986-91)
Mater Christi parish is very saddened to hear that COVID-19 took the life of a former member of our school leadership team. On May 7th, due to the virus, a private service was held for Mrs. Dorey Kuhn. Dorey served as our school principal for five years, 1986-91. Her smile was an everyday greeting for our student and faculty members during that time. She provided excellent leadership for our parish families during her term. After leaving Mater Christi, she also served as a manager at Catholic Charities. We, as a Christian community, join in our prayers for her service to Mater Christi.
Greetings Mater Christi Family, The Parish Reopening Leadership Team members and I have completed the required virtual training and all necessary paperwork has been submitted to the Archdiocese. Mater Christi has been approved for certification to reopen per Phase 1 and Phase 1A guidelines. What exactly are Phase 1 and Phase 1A of the Archdiocese Phased Reopening Plan? Phase 1 allows for parishes to reopen for Baptism, Reconciliation, Weddings
and Funerals with a limit of 10 attendees. Phase 1A allows for parishes to reopen for private prayer and adoration with
a limit of 10 attendees. We will be opening within the guidelines of the Archdiocese for Phase 1 and Phase 1A on the weekend of June 6
th and 7
th. Eucharistic Adoration will resume in the church
on Monday, June 8th at 6:30pm until 8:00pm with a limit of 10 attendees.
Please note that we will NOT be celebrating public Mass until we move to Phase 2 Reopening per guidance from the Archdiocese of Chicago. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work in partnership with the Archdiocese to reopen our parish within their safety guidelines. More information in regards to reopening will be available via mail, on our parish website at www.materchristichurch.org, via email, the Word, and our parish Facebook page as soon as it becomes available. May God Bless You Today and Always,
Rev. Matthew A. Nemchausky, Pastor

Do you still have your Rice Bowl?
The CRS (Catholic Relief Service) Rice Bowl has become a tradition at Mater Christi Church and in our community. CRS Rice Bowl is an annual Lenten program created for parishes, schools, and families to engage in global solidarity as well as raising funds for CRS’ international work. It is a simple tool for almsgivings and as a way to connect with the worldwide Church as we pray for people all over the world. Many of you have been participating in this tradition during this past Lent, but because of the current stay at home condition, you may still have these Rice Bowls in your home and have been unable to drop them off at the church or rectory. It is not too late to put your rice bowl donations into the hands of those that will benefit from it! Our very own parishioner and lead counter, Stephen Piszczor, will be available at the doorsteps of the Mater Christi rectory this Saturday, May 30th from 5:00-6:00pm for you to drop off your Rice Bowls. You can also send in your Rice Bowl donation (please send a check, no cash, for the amount collected) to: Catholic Relief Services CRS Rice Bowl P.O. Box 17090 Baltimore, Maryland 21297-0303
MOTHER OF MOTHERS PRAYER
Mother of Mothers, holy Queen, chosen
before all women to be the Mother of the Son of God. Mary, my Mother, who in your Maternity have so sanctified the
state of holy motherhood, imploringly I come to you, humbly I beseech you,
confidently I trust in you. I know that you can by your all-powerful intercession help me in my need. In you I take refuge, dear Virgin. Poor and needy, I place my
hope entirely in you: I relinquish all, confidently in your hands. Betray not my
humble trust, but hear my petitions and come to my aid, dear Mother of Mothers.
Amen
Mother of Mothers, pray for us.
Virtual Prayer Group for Engaged Couples in English
The COVID-19 crisis has altered the way that
each sacrament is administered in the Catholic Church. As health precautions become stricter for
the health and safety of the greater good, engaged couples are now facing cancellations, indefinite postponements or smaller wedding
alternatives that were unfathomable just a few weeks ago. The Archdiocese of Chicago is
excited to offer a weekly virtual prayer group for engaged couples that have felt the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Led by a couple facing
the same difficulties, this weekly prayer group will provide a sense of community, solace and
reliance on faith that is sure to bring comfort. The virtual prayer group will take place on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. via ZOOM.
