CIFA STORY
• CIFA was founded in 1928 starting its business in the steel form works for tunnelling
• early 50ies CIFA started its production of batching plants with weighing bins
instead of volumetric system to measure sand and gravel
• 1958 first Italian truck-mixer manufactured by CIFA
• Late 60ies the first CIFA concrete pump appears• 1975 CIFA invents the mixer-boom pump, achieving an in discussed
leadership all over the world
• 1998 CIFA produces its largest boom pump 52 m vertical reach
• 38.000 truck-mixers manufactured and over than 3.670 batching plants all
over the world

SELECTION OF PUMPS
CRITERIA FOR SELECTION OF CONCRETE PUMP
Technical Identification Number
The construction industry demanded that concrete pumps
should be categorized so that the characteristics of performance can be
taken from the classification value. The data regarding the max. output
(m³/h) and the max. pumping pressure (bar) do not reveal to the user
whether the equipment meets his requirements. It cannot be seen from
these data under what circumstances the max. output can be achieved .It is obvious that a concrete pump placing 50 m³ of concrete per hour
over a horizontal distance of 400 m will need a stronger power unit than
a pump conveying this volume through the same, but only 100 m long
pipeline. The delivery output Q at a given power P depends on the
placing pressure p.
P = Q x p
This means that when choosing a concrete pump, the user should also
know the required power of the equipment in addition to the delivery
output and the pumping pressure.

SELECTION OF PUMPS
The hydraulic output formula
“The required power is the product of delivery output and pumping
pressure”
P = Q X p = Constant
Says that at a given power the delivery output of the concrete pump
decreases whenever the pumping pressure increases. The product of
concrete delivery output in m³/h and concrete pumping pressure in bar will be described as “TECHNICAL IDENTIFICATION NUMBER” TK.
TK = (m³/h X bar)
Based on this technical identification number, the required power of the
equipment (in kW) can be ascertained from the quotient of TK and 25:P (kW) = TK/25 = (m³/h X bar)/25
The constant value 25 contains total efficiency of 0.7 for the complete
system besides the conversion factors
1 W = 1 Nm/s : 1 bar = 10N/cm²
