Hyperion® Business Modeling Release 3.0 Installation Checklist

The Hyperion Business Modeling PackageHyperion® Business Modeling offers organizations a powerful decision support and business simulation framework. Operational planning features enable users to make strategic decisions based on resource capacity, profitability or shareholder value.

Hyperion Business Modeling helps organizations implement advanced modeling techniques, such as Economic Value Added (EVA), Value Based Management (VBM) and Activity Based Costing/Management (ABC/M), and highlights opportunities for process improvement by quantifying cost reduction strategies. Individual models can be linked to create an enterprise model that accurately represents the costs and revenue for an entire organization.

This Installation Checklist provides a high-level list of the tasks required to install Hyperion Business Modeling. In addition, the Checklist supplies information regarding additional templates that are shipped with Hyperion Business Modeling, and identifies other available product-related tools and documentation.

ApplicationsThe Hyperion Business Modeling Package consists of the following Hyperion products:

● Hyperion® Business Modeling Release 3.0 for Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP (Professional Edition)

● Hyperion® Essbase® Release 6.5

● Hyperion Analyzer Release 6.1

● Hyperion Application Link Release 3.0, if applicable

All applications within the bundle may be installed independently of the others.

Templates and ToolsThe following templates and tools are available for use with Hyperion Business Modeling.

Hyperion Analyzer ViewsUse the Hyperion Analyzer Views file to deploy standard views of Hyperion Business Modeling results, including these report formats:

● Operational Flow Report

● Category Report

● Financial Report

● Resource Report

The Hyperion Analyzer Views Guide contains instructions for setting up the views. To view or print the guide, select Analyzer Views from the Information Map.

Hyperion Essbase Excel TemplatesUse the Hyperion Spreadsheet Add-in for Excel templates to analyze an Essbase database of Hyperion Business Modeling results. There are three templates in the Hyperion Essbase Excel Template folder, as follows:

● Regular View (Net Profit) - HBM_OLAP_Template.xls

● EP View (Economic Profit) - HBM_OLAP_EVA_Template.xls

● Enterprise Model - HBM_ENTERPRISE_MODEL_Template.xls

● Drill-Through Add-In - HBM_Drilling.xla

Ensure that the PC on which you are installing Hyperion Business Modeling, Release 3.0, meets the following minimum requirements for the configuration you are using:

● Pentium II 266 MHz microprocessor or better

● 128 Mb of RAM

● 4 Mb of video memory

● 20 Mb of printer memory

● 100 Mb hard disk space (Minimum)

● VGA graphics monitor with 256 colors (16-bit color recommended)

● CD-ROM drive

Hyperion Business Modeling with Enterprise Model Running on Windows NT or Windows 2000:

● Pentium III 800 MHz microprocessor or better

● 256 Mb of RAM





● CD-ROM drive

● Plus an additional 1 Mb RAM for each model


Hyperion Business Modeling Running on Windows XP Professional Edition:

● Pentium II 300 MHz microprocessor or better

● 128 Mb of RAM





● CD-ROM drive

● Plus an additional 8 MB of RAM for each Office application (such as Microsoft Word) running simultaneously

● Plus an additional 16 MB of RAM for Visio Standard and an additional 49 MB for Visio Professional

Hyperion Business Modeling with Enterprise Model Running on Windows XP Professional Edition:

● Pentium III 800 MHz microprocessor or better

● 512 Mb of RAM





● CD-ROM drive

● Plus an additional 1 Mb RAM for each model

● Plus an additional 8 MB of RAM for each Office application (such as Microsoft Word) running simultaneously

● Plus an additional 16 MB of RAM for Visio Standard and an additional 49 MB for Visio Professional

Install one of the following versions of Microsoft Windows:

● Windows 98

● Windows NT

● Windows 2000

● Windows XP (Professional Edition)

Note: Depending on the version of Essbase, Hyperion Essbase Server requires Windows 98, Windows NT or Windows 2000.

If you already have a previous release of Hyperion Business Modeling on your system, uninstall the previous release before installing Release 3.0.

Note: This step is optional, as Release 3.0 does work with Hyperion Business Modeling, Release 2.1.1 installed on the same workstation.

If you want to save your project to a database, you must have access to a relational database. Hyperion Business Modeling is ODBC and JDBC compliant, and has been tested with the following databases:

● DB2 7.1

● Oracle 8.0 and 9.0.1.1

● Microsoft Access 2000

● Microsoft Access XP

● SQL Server 7.0, and 2000 (Enterprise Edition)

If you are saving your model results to DB2 using JDBC, you must upgrade to the JDBC driver and JDK 1.2 support for this release of Hyperion Business Modeling.

If you want to save your results to a multidimensional database, you must install one of the following versions of Hyperion Essbase:

Hyperion Essbase Installation Guide for the appropriate release

If you want to view and analyze Hyperion Essbase results through report templates, install Hyperion Analyzer.

By default, the template is installed in Program Files\Hyperion Solutions\Hyperion Business Modeling 3.0\Hyperion Analyzer Views\HBM.arg.

Hyperion Business Modeling Analyzer Views Guide

If you want to analyze an Essbase database of Hyperion Business Modeling results, install Hyperion Spreadsheet Add-in for Excel template.

By default, the template is installed in Program Files\Hyperion Solutions\Hyperion Business Modeling 3.0\Hyperion Essbase Excel Template.
