Stopping for Directions

One day, it was all too much for her. Jenna could no longer see past the loneliness and despair that plagued her. She tried to end her own life. Luckily, she was found by local police who helped her get the help she needed. They took her to a local hospital where she stayed for a few days as her body began to heal. It was during this time that Jenna found Lake County Haven.

The Path Ahead

Despite this arduous start to life, Jenna is now thriving! When she came to the Haven, Jenna had the first safe, stable place she could call “home”. She was able to get a good night’s sleep, eat nutritious meals, and counseling to help her heal

emotionally from all she had been through. Now, Jenna has a full- time job, a savings account, and an apartment of her own. She even has plans to go back to school to earn a Bachelor’s Degree. Without the support of people like you, this may not have been possible. The reality is, Jenna may not have even made it out of homelessness alive. THANK YOU for giving her this chance.

Lake County Haven provides food, safety, shelter, couseling and life-skills training to women and children who are trying to find a path out of homelessness. Each and every day, our residents work to rebuild their lives. For many, it is a constant uphill struggle. Here is...One Woman’s Journey.

JENNAA Bump in the Road

Jenna came to the Haven when she was barely more than a child. At just 18 years old, she had already been on her own for several years. Her mom had abandoned her and her dad was abusive, locking her out of the house for days at a time. She often lived in her car and took up odd jobs whenever she could.

Yes! I want to help women and children find a path out of homelessness.

Thank you to all of our friends and neighbors who have helped the homeless women and children in our community find a place to call “home” this past year. Because of your generosity, each of them received not only the basic necessities of life, but also:

• Case Management and Life-Skills Training to help them learn the skills they need to live independently.

• Counseling and support to help them heal from the trauma they experience while living on the streets.
