The student tab in myhacc is labeled degree evaluation and therefore should be the term used with students. To generate a degree evaluation follow the appropriate steps above. You may use Laura May (LEMAY) for the HACC id# and generate the degree eval in the next slide. 3

The red circle highlights the grade point average or gpa. Both the program and current gpa must be at least 2.0 in order to graduation (some majors like education requires a higher gpa)You should become familiar with the gpa rules for your academic area

The light green arrow denotes the major, degree type and expected graduation date

The green bracket listed classes that are not counting toward here degree. These are classes that are either prerequisites, developmental, or courses that simply do not apply towards the degree.

Other points of consideration: Please be careful with electives like #9 lists 8 credits of Bio electives need for this requirement; the system will not automatically subtract the number of credits

Diversity requirement: is the only requirement that can count in two places. Diversity must come from the approved list of General Education requirements. If dealing with a student like Laura May who was here some time ago look for Soc 201 it is the only diversity that will count automatically without a substitution waiver. See Gen Education list on resource page to see all approved diversity requirements.4

7 | #Copyright Cengage Learning. All rights reserved. The blue circle at the top left denotes the assigned advisor. Your name should be listed here unless the student is seeking to change his/her majorIf so the assigned advisor for the current major will be listed here. If the major is changed the advisor information will also be updated

The blue circle to the top right highlights the students major, type of AA degree and expected graduation date5

7 | #Copyright Cengage Learning. All rights reserved. To continue the purple highlights shows coursework not yet completed with for this degree program.

All asterisks must be removed from the degree evaluation indicating that the degree requirement has been fulfilled.

For instance Chem 203, Chem 204 are major requirement needed for this major. The degree will not be conferred until all the degree requirements are completed in order words all asterisks are gone

Special notes: the diversity requirement is highlighted with an asterisk however this student has taken Soc 201Soc 201 is currently the only grandfathered diversity requirement and can be used to fulfill the diversity without submitting a graduation waiver.

Once adjusted the Soc 201 will count in two places. One as the Core B general education and two as the diversity requirement. It is the only grandfathered diversity and will count without a graduation or substitution waiver

When adjusted Soc 201 will be seen fulfilling the diversity requirement and in this case a Core B; the class is not counted twice the credits neededJust simply used in two places.

In most cases these are prerequisite like precollege or developmental courses. In other cases the coursework simply does not fit on the program

For example Psy 101 is an approved Core B general education course but the requirement is already fulfilled with the Soc 201 and 2037Thank you for your advising work! For more information & resources:Go to MyHACCClick on Faculty TabScroll down to Bookmarks PlusClick on Advisor Resources
