CAR NATIONCoolidge, GA 229-346-3033

VA: Unflagging Efforts to Un-flag Our Veterans

You can’t separate a Veteran from the national flag. In the United States of America - quite literally so.Recently, in a truly Kafkaesque turn of events, Veteran Affairs decided to drag an honorable American Veteran to court for the crime of …hanging an American flag on the VA’s walls. The department, already disgraced by its poor treatment of military heroes and plagued by scandals ranking from corruption to medical atrocities, visibly “seized the opportunity” to deal with one more whistleblower the VA’s way.VA’s operatives who, according to compulsively “misstating” VA’s Secretary McDonald are supposed to treat American Veterans as “VIP customers”, managed to define the “crime” of flag hanging as: “C.F.R.1.218 – Security and Law enforcement at VA facilities; a) (9) Distribution of handbills. The distributing of materials such as pamphlets, handbills, and-or flyers, and displaying of placards or posting of materials on bulletin boards or elsewhere on property is prohibited, except as authorized by the head of the facility or when such distributions or displays are conducted as part of authorized Government activities.”No, you can’t separate American Veteran from the American flag: If the flag hanging patriot is sent to jail for “displaying of placards”, his co-defendant - the American flag will be tried as “a pamphlet, a hand-bill and a flyer’ ‘in the court of law. Secretary McDonald, who is a West Point graduate, an ex- P&G employee and an untiring author of countless presentations on “value based leadership:”, should know the difference between a flyer and the American flag.A flyer, known also as a handbill, is a small scale marketing tool, generally in A4-size paper; a pamphlet is a brochure usually used for specific advertising needs of a company and a placard is a sign posted in a public place as an advertisement. One of the most common ‘“introductions’” of American Flag figures in “I’m The Flag’ ‘by Ruth Apperson Rous: “Americans, I am the sacred emblem of your country. I’m your title deed of freedom, which is yours to enjoy and hold in trust for posterity / . . . Guard me well, lest your freedom perish from the earth.”During the 1984 Republican National Convention in Dallas, Gregory Lee Johnson, a member of the Revolutionary Communist Youth Brigade, poured kerosene on American flag and set it on fire.Johnson was initially charged with vandalizing respected objects, but his conviction was overturned and court deliberations resulted in Texas v. Johnson, 491 U.S.397, a decision by the Supreme Court of the United States that invalidated prohibitions on desecrating the American flag.Well, it must be a sign of our times: Today, a Veteran who cherishes the American flag and hangs it in protest of the inhumane treatment of our homeless Veterans seems to “deserve” prison. How about charging the VA with insulting the American flag and with harassing our honorable Vietnam era Veteran? How about honor, Your Honor? What is the VA trying to turn American flag into: a tool to arrest our Veterans?Even if Obama’s administration workers hopes that democrat Franklin K. Lane’s theory that, the American flag is “whatever you make me, nothing more” is practicable, the sacred symbol does not belong to them and has a historically proven ability to survive politicians.Meanwhile, we can either follow the example of our present Commander-in-Chief, who sometimes does not place hand over heart when the national anthem is played, or stand up for true American symbols: our flag and our Veterans. Tecumseh rightly said: When the legends die, the dreams end; there is no more greatness. – Joanna Rosamond-Canada Free Press

Freedom and responsibility Which do you want?Freedom is the ability to set your schedule, to decide on the work you do, to make decisions.Responsibility is being held accountable for your actions. It might involve figuring out how to get paid for your work, owning your mistakes or having others count on you.Freedom without responsibility is certainly tempting, but there are few people who will give you that gig and take care of you and take responsibility for your work as well. Responsibility without freedom is stressful. There are plenty of jobs in this line of work, just as there are countless jobs where you have neither freedom nor responsibility. These are good jobs to walk away from. When in doubt, when you’re stuck, when you’re seeking more freedom, the surest long-term route is to take more responsibility.Freedom and responsibility aren’t given, they’re taken. – Seth Godin

PAPER, PLASTIC or REUSABLE BAGS

Paper, plastic or reusable bags? Which will it be? Both paper and reusable bags are environmentally friendly as they are both recyclable. Many of you enjoy recycling the plastic bags at home for different uses. No matter which one you use make sure that you are following proper food safety rules.

Raw juices can leak through a paper bag and contaminate your other grocery items and possibly your vehicle during the trip home. You may need to wrap meats in small plastic bags before placing them in the paper bag.

Also, if you elect to BYOB (bring your own bag) make sure you use separate bags for meats, poultry and fresh produce. These bags should be cleaned between each use.

It is also a good idea to have them place all your cold items together as a reminder when you are unloading to place those items in the refrigerator quickly.

God Acts on Our BehalfIsaiah 64:1-4

The Lord is a God of action. Even when He rested on the seventh day of creation, it wasn’t because

He was tired and needed to recuperate. Although He deliberately made a choice to stop His creative activity, He never ceased working. While the Lord is always controlling the universe, He is, at the same time, intimately involved with individual lives.

God has a plan for each one of us and wants us to know what it is. Every time we take a step of obedience, He sheds more light on our path. But sometimes He asks us to pause awhile, and we may not know why. We long for direction in a particular matter, but our prayers just aren’t being answered, and we wonder, Why does He delay?

When you aren’t seeing any answers, it doesn’t mean that God is not working. He’s still actively involved in your life, but He works in ways that are not always visible He orchestrates circumstances, changes people’s hearts, and protects His children from making hasty decisions that will have disastrous consequences. Perhaps the Lord knows you’re not yet ready for the next leg of your spiritual journey. Waiting times are opportunities for growth in character, obedience, and faith. He may also need time to train you for future responsibilities and ministries.

When you intentionally choose to be still, God unleashes His mighty power on your behalf. He has planned good things for those who wait, and I believe what He has in store for your life will surpass all expectations. When He knows you’re ready to receive His blessings, they’ll flow into your lap.

Moshe Reads an Arab Newspaper

A story is told of a Jewish man who was riding on the subway reading an Arab newspaper. A friend of his, who happened to be riding in the same subway car, noticed this strange phenomenon. Very upset, he approached the newspaper reader.

“Moshe, have you lost your mind? Why are you reading an Arab newspaper? “Moshe replied, “I used to read the Jewish newspaper, but what did I find? Jews being persecuted, Israel being attacked, Jews disappearing through assimilation and intermarriage, Jews living in poverty. So I switched to the Arab newspaper. Now what do I find? Jews own all the banks, Jews control the media, Jews are all rich and powerful, Jews rule the world. The news is so much better!”

Quitman, Ga. 31643 DOJ expected to charge 5 Iranians in 2013 hacking of New York damThe Department of Justice is expected to announce charges against up to five Iranians believed to be tied to the 2013 hacking of a New York dam, a law enforcement source told Fox News.

The DOJ is expected to make the announcement sometime in the coming days, according to the source. The individuals are believed to have connections within the Iranian government.

The hackers allegedly infiltrated the control system of the Bowman Ave Dam in Rye Brook, N.Y., which is about 20 miles outside New York City, The Wall Street Journal reported at the time. The breach raised fears of the vulnerabilities of the United States’ infrastructure to foreign hackers. It also came at a time that the Iranians were on the offensive in attacking U.S banks.

It was believed at the time that the hackers never took control of the dam, but were able to probe the system, the report said.

The expected DOJ announcement was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.

In this case, the hackers were believed to have gained access to the dam

through a cellular modem, the paper reported in 2015, citing an unclassified Homeland Security summary of the case that did not specifically name the dam. Two unnamed sources told the paper that the summary was referring to the relatively small, 20-foot-tall, concrete dam about 5 miles from Long Island sound. The dam is used for flood control in the area.

Initially, intelligence analysts feared the hackers were targeting another dam: The Arthur R. Bowman Dam in Oregon, a 245-foot-tall earthen structure that irrigates local agriculture and prevents flooding near the town of Prineville, approximately 150 miles southeast of Portland. That belief prompted investigators to notify the White House that Iran had escalted its cyberwar with the United States.

The source told Fox News that the upcoming charges are expected to come out of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York.
