A lot of celebrations going on:

Nursing Assistants and Direct Care Workers Week - June 15th through June 22nd.

National Nurses Week was celebrated from May 6th through May 12th

And then we celebrated National Nursing Home Week May 14th to 20th

The theme of this year’s National Nursing Home Week was the Spirit of America. And oh what spirit did we have in our consulted homes. We had BBQ celebrations, we had staff and residents dressing in their favorite sports teams, PJ parties, we had staff dress in cowboy duds, pies in the face for the Administrator, walking Tacos parties, and the list goes on and on for the fun that was shared with residents, families and staff alike.

On behalf of all of us here at Extended Care we hope you enjoyed the National Nursing Home week and we thank the staff at each facility for embracing the week, sharing in the Spirit and for the work you do each day. The other two celebrations of Nurses week and CNA week are monumental weeks for us in nursing homes and health care alike. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t recognize the hard work that goes on in these facilities. It is hard work but rewarding work and work that I hope each of you know that you are recognized for and the residents we care for need each of you.

Celebrations!

On May 4th, Our Indiana facilities took part in the

Annual American Heart Association Go Red for

Women event. Go Red For Women encourages

women and their families to take action and live a

healthier life. Go Red is dedicated to making an

impact in their community by coming together to

raise awareness, educate and fundraise.

St JamesCHECK OUT the Events at

ECC would like to extend a big congratulations to Micaela Carr! Micaela has retired her LPN letters by recently completing her RN licensing! To use the St James words for acknowledging outstanding achievement, “What you say!” Micaela completed her nursing courses at Rasmussen College. She has been a part of Team St James since 2014, providing outstanding leadership for her nurses and aides and compassionate care to our

residents.We are proud of her achievement and honored that she is a part of the St. James’ family.

Monica Barker received a dedication award for 49 years of nursing

Week with a Mother’s Day tea

event.

The Tri-

State team

whipped up

some mini

sandwiches

along with

a plethora of desserts. There were

many different tea options available

for community members to choose

from. There were also some

relaxing hand massages provided

with some essential oils.

Tri-State ended Nursing Home Week 2017 with a

“Pie a Manager in the Face Day”. All staff were

able to donate $2.00 to throw a pie in any manager’s

face of their choosing. They even got to fill their

pies with as much whip cream as they wanted!

The facility raised over $100 for our Activity

Department. All mangers and staff enjoyed this

event immensely and they have now requested

it to be done more often! As always, Tri-State

Administration would like to thank all staff for

their dedication and hard work.
