MT. CARMEL HIGH SCHOOL � HALL OF FAME

Mt. Carmel High School was founded in 1974. In 2019, a Mt. Carmel High School Hall of Fame was created. The Hall of Fame was founded to recognize individ-uals who, by their actions or achievements, made outstanding contributions to the MCHS “experience” or graduates that lived “The Sundevil Way” by making outstanding contributions to their community.

There are three categories by which an individual can be recognized and inducted into the Hall of Fame:

� ACHIEVEMENT �Individuals who are graduates* of MCHS and went on to

impact society and their communities through achievement or contributions by exemplifying “The Sundevil Way” lifestyle.

� ATHLETICS �Individuals that excelled at an exceptionally high level while

participating or coaching in the MCHS Athletic Program or for achievement in the world of sports after graduating from MCHS.

� CONTRIBUTION �Individuals who, by their actions, had an indelible impact

on the students that attended MCHS (staff, faculty, or volunteers).**

* Graduate inductees must have been out of High School for a period of ten years.

**Staff members must be retired from MCHS.

SELECTION BY-LAWS

� ACHIEVEMENT & CONTRIBUTION �ACHIEVEMENT Purpose: To recognize those graduates that went on to impact society by exemplifying “The Sundevil Way” lifestyle.

CONTRIBUTIONPurpose: Recognize those who made an indelible impact on the students that attended MCHS.

SELECTION PROCESS FOR ACHIEVEMENT & CONTRIBUTIONCommittee members will be appointed by the active A.S.B. Director and will serve until voluntarily withdrawing or not being able to fulfill their commitment as found by the the A.S.B. Director (missing meetings, deadlines, etc.). The committee will have 6-8 mem-bers. The A.S.B. Director will not be a voting member (except to break ties) but will serve in a supervisory capacity. This committee will serve for selecting inductees into the Hall of Fame for the categories of Achievement and Contribution.

All applications should be turned in to the A.S.B. Director. All applications will be reviewed and voted on in October each year (with the exception of the first year). Those not selected will be placed on file and will be considered over the next four years. If an application is not selected after being voted on a fifth time, the application will we pulled out of the file. Applications can be updated and resubmitted at any time.

These bylaws may be amended by a simple majority vote by the committee.

To be eligible for Contribution, a staff member or volunteer must have served at least 10 years at the school. A staff member must be retired for at least one year prior to their induction year. Nominees must receive a simple majority of up/down votes from the committee members (the A.S.B. Director will break ties). There must be a minimum of 6 members to call for a vote. Coaches must be retired from active coaching.

SAMPLE CRITERIA - ACHIEVEMENT Individuals who are graduates of MCHS and went on to impact society and their commu-nities through achievement and by exemplifying “The Sundevil Way” lifestyle. Examples would be a 30 year veteran fire chief, a renowned music producer, etc.

SAMPLE CRITERIA - CONTRIBUTIONIndividuals, who by their actions, had an indelible impact on Mt. Carmel High School. Examples would be a 20 year veteran teacher who went beyond the classroom in their contribution to the Sundevil community, a 10 year community member who served as a foundation president, etc.

� ATHLETICS �SELECTION PROCESS FOR ATHLETICSCommittee members will be appointed by the active Athletic Director and will serve until voluntarily withdrawing or not being able to fulfill their commitment as found by the Athletic Director (missing meetings, deadlines, etc.). The committee will have 6-8 members. The Athletic Director will not be a voting member (except to break ties) but will serve in a supervisory capacity.

ANY person(s) may submit a nomination form to the Athletic Director for consideration. Prospective nominees will then need to be “officially” brought forward by a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame Committee for an up/down vote.

Once nominated, an athlete will remain nominated forever, although information/achievements may be added to resume over time.

To be eligible, an athlete must be a graduate, in good standing in the community and graduation year must be ten years prior to their induction year.

Athletic achievement while a student at MCHS and/or after graduation will be taken into account in the evaluation of a candidate.

Nominess must receive simple majority of up/down vote from committee members (AD to break ties). There must be a minimum of six (6) members to call for a vote

Coaches must be retired from active coaching to be nominated/inducted.
