BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM H.4.2 (For Immediate Release) July 6, i960 CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BANKS IN LEADING CITIES The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in leading cities shows the following principal changes for the week ended June 29: Decreases of $130 million in loans adjusted, $213 million in holdings of U. S. Government securities, $412 mil- lion in reserve balances with Federal Reserve Banks, $979 million in demand deposits adjusted, and $730 million in borrowings, and an increase of $843 million in U. S. Gov- ernment deposits. Commercial and industrial loans increased $17 million. Loans to brokers and dealers for purchasing or carrying U. S. Government and other securities decreased $255 million. Loans to noribank financial institutions increased $65 million. Holdings of Treasury bills decreased $252 million and holdings of the combined total of Treasury notes and U. S. Government bonds increased $47 million. Demand d e p o s i t s c r e d i t e d to domestic banks increased $236 million. Time deposits other than interbank increased $138 million.
