PM SVANidhi Mobile App for street vendors: Govt launchesnew App to push microcredit facility to doorsteps

New Delhi: The govern-ment launched the PMSVANidhi mobile App tobring the microcredit facil-ity under the PM SVANidhischeme to the doorsteps ofstreet vendors.In an effort tobring the microcredit facil-ity under the PM SVANidhischeme to the doorsteps ofstreet vendors, the govern-ment today launched PMSVANidhi Mobile App. Thisapp is aimed to provide auser-friendly digital inter-face for lending institutionsfor sourcing and processingloan applications of streetvendors under the scheme,said a statement by the Min-

istry of Housing & Urban Af-fairs. More than 1.54 lakhstreet vendors have appliedfor a working capital loan sofar, out of which, over 48,000applications have been ap-proved and the amount hasbeen sanctioned, the state-ment said.It is believed thatthe launch of the MobileApp will give impetus to theimplementation strategy ofthe scheme besides pro-moting paper-less digitalaccess of micro-credit facili-ties by the street vendors,the government said. Thegovernment launched theweb portal in the last weekof June. It is also noted that

the new-launched App hasall the features similar to theweb portal of PM SVANidhi.The web portal and the Appinclude features such asvendor search in the surveydata, e-KYC of applicants,processing of applications,and real-time monitoring.

Meanwhile, the PMSVANidhi scheme waslaunched by Finance Minis-ter Nirmala Sitharaman un-der the ambit of the AtmaNirbhar Bharat package. Itwas for the first time thatthe government broughtschemes or relief measuresfor the street vendors of thecountry. The scheme facili-

tated street vendors to takea loan of Rs 10,000 to rees-tablish their businesses hitby the coronavirus-led na-tionwide lockdown.

The government hadunderlined that an interestsubsidy of 7 per cent will becredited back to the benefi-ciaries who repay timely.Also, the vendors can availthe facility of the increasedcredit limit on timely repay-ment. The street vendorsmostly operate on a smallfinancial cushion, thus eventhe micro-credit supportfrom the government is ex-pected to give a major reliefto such vendors.

New Delhi: Lt. Gen.Harpal Singh briefing De-fence Minister RajnathSingh in New Delhi. DefenceMinister Rajanth Singh onTuesday directed the BorderRoads Organisation (BRO)that work on the strategicDarbuk-Shyok-Daulat BegOldi (DSDBO) road be com-pleted by October, a de-fence source said. This wasconveyed at a meeting toreview the progress of theconstruction activities in theborder areas with BRO Di-rector-General LieutenantGeneral Harpal Singh.

On the 255-kmDarbukShyok-Daulat BegOldi (DSDBO) road, the on-going construction is al-most done. About 45 km ofblack topping work is pend-ing. Mr. Singh conveyed thatthis has to be completed byOctober, the source said.

Stating that an alterna-tive route is also beingmade here, the source saidthere was full focus on con-

nectivity, terming it a toppriority. China has been ob-jecting to Indian road andinfrastructure developmentat several points along theLine of Actual Control (LAC).A road branching from theDSDBO road towards theGalwanNalah is believed tobe one of the reasons fortheir objections. In May, asthe stand-off was underway, the BRO began effortsto fully resume constructionwork on all roads delayeddue to the pandemic. It isalso building the 61 strate-gic Indo-China Border

Roads (ICBRs), measuring3,323.57 km, under the di-rection of the China StudyGroup (CSG).

In March, the Parliamen-tary Standing Committeeon Defence was informedthat the BRO has completed75% of the constructionwork on the 61 Indo-ChinaBorder Roads (ICBRs).

Of these, 12 roads mea-suring about 1,064 km, arein the Union Territories ofJammu and Kashmir andLadakh, while three roadsmeasuring about 62 km arein Sikkim.

ED files money launderingcase against GVK group, MIAL

New Delhi: The Enforce-ment Directorate (ED) hasregistered a money laun-dering case against the GVKgroup, the Mumbai Interna-tional Airport Limited(MIAL) and others to probeviolations under the Preven-tion of Money LaunderingAct (PMLA) to the tune ofRs705 crore in the Mumbaiairport operations.The EDhas filed an EnforcementCase Information Report(FIR in police parlance) un-der the PMLA after takingcognisance of a recent CBIFIR that booked these enti-ties to probe criminality interms of criminal conspiracyand graft.The agency will

probe if genuine funds werelaundered to amass per-sonal assets by illegal rout-ing of funds or proceeds ofcrime, sources said.

The CBI case in this con-nection relates to the al-leged siphoning off Rs 705crore from the funds of theMumbai International Air-port Limited (MIAL), a jointventure under public-pri-vate partnership (PPP) be-tween the GVK AirportHoldings Limited and theAirports Authority of India(AAI) besides other inves-tors, by showing inflatedexpenditure, under-report-ing of revenues, fudging ofrecords among others.

Cabinet nod for extension ofPMGKAY for 5 months till November

New Delhi: The UnionCabinet has extended theperiod of EPF support forbusinesses and workers forthree more months, statedMinister Prakash Javadekar.

Cabinet approves ex-tension of EPF contributionof 24 per cent (12 per centemployees share and 12 percent employers share) foranother 3 months fromJune to August 2020 underPradhan Mantri GaribKalyan Yojana/Atma NirbharBharat, said the minister.Javadekar said that the es-

timated cost of this wouldbe Rs 4,860 crore and it willbenefit 72 lakh employees.

Under this scheme theCentre would pay the EPFcontribution of employerand employee for establish-ments that have up to 100employees. Out of that 90per cent must be earningunder Rs 15,000 monthlywage. This scheme wouldincentivise around 4 lakhestablishments.

The minister said thatthe Cabinet has also ap-proved the extension for

availing benefits of thePradhan Mantri GaribKalyan Yojana for Ujjwalabeneficiaries by threemonths with effect fromJuly 1.Pradhan Mantri GaribKalyan Yojana (PMGKY)aims to provide a safety netto the poor and vulnerablewho have been hit the hard-est by the pandemic. Thetime limit has been ex-tended till September foravailing the benefits of thescheme. This move will costRs 13,500 crores, saidJavadekar.
