Small Groups Coming to Guardian Angels
We are instituting small groups at Guardian Angels. This is
a way to become involved in a non-stressful and friendly
environment. There is information on small groups at the
back of church on the table. If you have not yet received
information on this new program, please take an
information sheet. Everyone in our parish has worth and
value as a human being and has valuable experience. Please
share your gifts in a group with like individuals. If you are
afraid you won’t know anyone and you are reluctant to
become involved, we have all felt this way at one time or
another. Please sign up; there is no obligation.

you can call the office. Also, please join the Altar and
Rosary Society on Sundays at 8:00 am in the Chapel,
as we say the rosary.

Our Lady of Hope Update
Catholic Schools Week was a big success for Our Lady
of Hope School. They made over 60
Blessing Bags to be distributed to
those in need for their service project.
They kicked off their kindness
campaign with a visit from KC Wolf
who did an assembly on Tuesday,
Marriage Enrichment Ask for and Give Forgiveness. While never having
to say your sorry sounds good in a movie, in real
life we are called to ask for, and give, forgiveness.
On February 17, 2019 & February 24, 2019, the Worldwide Marriage Encounter weekend reveals the grace that can flow in a relationship open to forgiveness and healing. The next weekend in the Kansas City area will be March 1-3, 2019. For more information, or to apply for a weekend, visit www.wwme4youandme.org, or call/email Tony & Barb Zimmerman at 816-741-4066,

Thoughts From Guardian Angels
4|Guardian Angels Parish Kansas City, MO
Being 5 weeks removed from the
Christmas Season, and only three
weeks away from the 1st Sunday in
Lent, its easy to ask – where has all
the time gone.
Since ordinary time resumed on our
church calendar, it feels like we have
been interrupted by mother nature so
often that it has been difficult for
many to get back in the rhythm of the
season.
Snow, ice and extreme temperatures
have plagued us like we haven’t seen
in years. Even our school children are
having trouble settling back into a
healthy studying routine with being
out 2-3 days a week due to frequent
cancelations.
I know here at the parish we have
seen lighter than normal crowds due
to the weather, but instead of getting
down and wishing for summer, this is
a good time to use the extra time we
have been given to reflect on our lives
and what is meaningful to us.
We should see this extra time we have
as a Blessing and make productive
use of the time. Consider reaching out
to someone with a phone call who
you haven’t spoken to for a while and
see how they are doing; a short call is
so much more personable than a text
or email. When people are alone on
these cold grey days its easy for them
to feel alone and forgotten– so reach
out to someone and it will help to
warm you up as well.
Here at the church we are busy during
this time of the year with making a
few improvements and plans for Lent.
We have a couple of things scheduled,
there will be 3 services on Ash
Wednesday, the following week on
March 13 we will have a Lenten
dinner with a speaker coming in, and
finally on March 27th we will have a
vespers service to pray for our
deceased loved ones and the souls in
purgatory; more information on all of
these events will be available in the
coming weeks.
In addition, the sacristy and chapel are
currently in the process of being
painted and having a few
improvements done. It will make for a
much nicer experience for those who
will be attending adoration when it
resumes on Friday March 8th,
especially with the new addition of
key pad locks on the doors for easier
and safer access.
Other improvements around the
parish are being planned as well.
Financially we are still doing fine;
contributions have increased and
some people that had suspended their
giving have chosen to resume it.
There will always be things to repair
or replace around the church,
especially when its over a hundred
years old. Fortunately, with your
generosity and improved accounting
procedures we are slowly able to
improve our campus here at GA, and I
thank you for your sacrifices.
Blessings
Deacon Tyrone
