Rumors have swirled for some time now about a new factory built race car from Porsche, the new Cayman GT4 Clubsport. Information concerning the car has been released. It looks like a great race car. Porsche has selected PCA Club Racing to race the GT4 Clubsport in the Eastern part of the U. S. in a six event series for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. The expected venues for the first year will be Road Atlanta, NOLA, Watkins Glen, VIR, Road America and Daytona. A final schedule will be confirmed later this year. We expect to add Sebring in 2017. You have received this notification because you have shown an interest in running the GT4 Clubsport in our series. This is the first step in obtaining the car and campaigning it with PCA Club Racing for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. As such we are asking you to fill out the Candidate Application, provide a comprehensive resume of your racing experience, and submit a $1000 deposit which will be refunded should you not be selected. Individuals who want to purchase the car must be confirmed as a competitor who has been accepted by a specific racing organization for the 2016 and 2017 racing seasons before they can actually complete the purchase. In our case, to receive PCA’s confirmation as a competitor, the competitor must make a two year commitment to the PCA series, i.e. the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport Trophy East Series. Fees for the first year of the series ($3,000) and first year event registrations ($12,000) must be paid to PCA and a competitor’s contract signed prior to PCA confirming the competitor’s status to Porsche Motorsports North America. Fees for the second year will be collected late in 2016. Our Goal is to have a safe, fun and competitive racing series. This Series will run in its own run group using modified PCA Club Racing rules. There will be multiple additions to our normal program for this series. We plan to make it the best place to race a Cayman GT4 Clubsport available anywhere. A draft set of rules will be available to those who are accepted by PCA prior to signing the contract. The draft rules will confirm the car requirements, avoidable contact rules and sanctions, the championship points system and other issues. Although it will not be allowed to become a crash fest, we will not apply our regular 13-13 rule for this series. There will be penalties for avoidable contact. The rules will require data and video in all race cars. The specifications of the data and video systems may not be complete until later this year.

One of the key elements in our selection process will be your comprehensive racing resume. It’s important that it contain a chronology of your experience to include dates, type of cars campaigned, series and races, team or dealership affiliations, current and past licenses held, race results, etc. A basic form to identify this information is attached. Please fully complete the form by providing all of the information requested. The completed form must be received by Allen Shirley, the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport Trophy East Coordinator, by October 30, 2015. Allen’s contact information is on the Candidate Application.

We are looking forward to a truly great racing series. If you have what it takes to race cleanly and competitively please join us.
