Solo Ads
You pay someone with a list to promote your squeeze page for you.
The perfect and easy way to start building a list from scratch.
Prices can range from $30 to $1,000 or more for for solo ads. Most are under

Quality of the list. (Active List or Safelist)
Guaranteed Clicks (Depends on Solo Ad Setup)
Who you are buying the ad from.
Work with your budget and gradually grow it as your income increases.
Adding Special Offer
Use a special offer after they sign up to your list to generate revenue from the
new subscribers.
A converting special offer will help offset the cost of the solo ad and may even
pay for it entirely!
It could even generate a profit for you!
Have a follow up or two for your special offer as well to generate more income
quicker to offset your advertising costs for a solo ad.

Approach To The The List Owner
Send an email stating the following:
You would like to pay them to send out an email on your behalf giving
away a free and valuable product to their subscribers.
Include a link to your free offer and also include the download page so
they can review it.
IMPORTANT TO ASK THE FOLLOWING:
“If you are interested what is your list size, how soon can my offer go
out, and what is your price for a solo ad blast?”
Finish up politely and say you wish to work with them soon.
Your Swipe Copy
This is super important to any solo ad campaign that you are a part of.
This is a copy of the email that you want the person to send out for you.
Also include subject lines for them to copy/paste.
You should have a few already written up and ready to be used so you just have
to copy and paste it to get it to the list owner you bought from.
Try to have a short version and a long version of each one of your swipe copies
to give your list owner an option. Everyone’s list will be different.
Your Final Email
Your swipe copy with possible subject lines.
Confirmation on the agreed upon date and time for them sending your offer
out.
Request for them to send you a follow up after the offer goes out.
Express your appreciation.
Be professional because people you buy solo ads from could be great JV
partners in the future.
Solo Ad Warning
Whoever you pay to do a solo ad for you should be someone that you have
checked out.
Get a screenshot of their subscriber proof if possible. Most people that are
honest will give you this since you are investing money with them.
Look up their name in niche forums.
If it looks too good to be true it probably is. Like if someone approaches you
with a solo ad to 100,000 people for $50 you need to be careful. Someone
with a list that size wouldn’t sell a solo spot for less than $500 or even $1,000.
Even if their list size checks out ask how they got the subscribers. A rented list
is no good to you for example.
Solo Ad Profitability
Make sure you seriously consider this as part of your list building activity.
Even if you are spending $50/month or $100/month you can be constantly
and consistently growing your list.
As your list grows you can take part an ad swaps which we will talk about next
to continue that list growth for you even further!
Ad Swaps
An ad swap is very similar to a solo ad except you don’t have to pay for it.
You “pay” for it by sending the list owner’s offer to your current list. In return
they send your offer to their subscribers.
This method really only works once you have around 200 to 500 subscribers.
So you can start with solo ads or other list building methods to grow your list
to that level.
You can do solo ads with less though as I have seen it done by several people.
Ad Swaps
An ad swap works great though because it doesn’t cost you any cash out of
pocket.
It does take time to find a great ad swap partner for you that will work with
you.
The effort is worth it though just like any other list building method.
There is a balance you will want to achieve though as you don’t want to do ad
swaps for any free give away product.
Make sure the product is of the highest quality possible to maintain credibility
with your list.
Ad Swaps
Apply the same methods for finding solo ad partners when going after possible
ad swap partners. You are reaching the same people.
The difference is you mention that you are looking to do an ad swap where you
promote their sign up page an exchange for them promoting your free offer.
Ask them what dates they are free to run the ad swap on and ask them to send
over their offer page and swipe copy for you to send out.
Ad Swap Keys
The key thing to ensure is that after you confirm the dates of the ad swap that
you queue up the offer in your autoresponder.
Set it up so you don’t forget.
Take a screen shot using Jing once you setup your offer to show them it is
queued up for the time and date specified.
This will encourage them to do the same if they haven’t done so already.
Making sure both parties get their offers out is most important with any ad
swap.
Ad Swap Matchup
Matching clicks or list size is something that will likely be asked from an ad
swap partner.
When you are brand new to this strategy you may want to look for people with
smaller lists and you can find them on forums, but just like solo ads don’t be
afraid to contact everyone with a list.
Sometimes a person with a list of say 10,000 people may do an ad swap for you
even if you have a list of 1,000 people. They would only send to a segment of
their list to match your list size.
This is completely fair and ethical.
Ad Swap MAtchup
Matching clicks is very difficult to do, but can be helpful to secure a good ad
swap partner.
You can mention that you are willing to match only up to a certain number of
clicks. Since you know what your list usually produces as far as clicks go per
email it is easy to do this.
You could say I will match up to 100 clicks. When you match this may mean
that you need to send out two times to match the clicks with the person who
has a slightly more responsive or larger list than you.
The key thing is that you are list building with this strategy overall.
Ad Swap Warning
Just like with solo ads be careful who you are dealing with to ensure you both
get benefits.
Most of the people you work with are good people though and someone you
can trust, but there are always a few that may not promote your offer after you
promoted their deal.
Use forums to research them and again if the ad swap seems too good than it
probably is.
A person with a list of 50,000 more than likely won’t swap with you if you
have a tiny list.
Ad Swap Warning
Before you agree completely to the swap make it a point to check out the link
and offer they are promoting to ensure it is of good quality.
They may have you promote a squeeze page offer or even a sales page. Just
check that the squeeze page delivers what it promises and look at the sales page
to ensure it doesn’t look to full of hype. Is it something you would look at.
Good credibility with your subscribers is more important than promoting a
bad experience to them. That is one of the few times you need to say no to a
list building opportunity.
Ad Swap Profitability
Here is an example using numbers of how an ad swap could benefit you with
growing your list and your profits.
Ad Swap Cost = 15 Minutes to Setup
Traffic To Squeeze Page = 150 Visitors
Conversion of Squeeze Page = 30%
New Subscribers Generated = 45
Special Offer Price = $10
Special Offer Sales = 3
Instant Revenue Generated = $30
Ad Swap Profitability
Follow Up Email Sales = 2 X $10 = $20 ($50 Total)
Average Subscriber = $0.50 Per Month (Could Be Higher)
Year Long Revenue = 45 Subscribers X $0.50 = $22.50/month
($22.50 X 12 = $270)
Total Revenues From Time Investment = $270/year
You just made a recurring income stream. Now repeat this!
