When ever any short circuit occurs high rate of current flow through the wire and as they are not capable of such high current density that’s why the temperature

increases to much and heat produced melts the conductor and fire can be broke out in the wiring due

to sparking.We uses this thermal effect for:

safety purposes (fuses and thermal overload relays) , light (incandescent bulbs),

measurement of high temperatures (pyrometer) and many other application……..

Suggestion for college

• During project we have visited the main switch room and wonder to saw that some fuses are heavily wired and one phase was connected to the mains without any protection fuse in the path.

• We request to the principal to please provide us a Kit Kat type fuse and allow us to install that in the main board to avoid any accident.

• Install new fuses in accordance with the admissible load
