34 Coal People Magazine www.coalpeople.com This year’s Coal Prep Show marked its 25th year with one of the strongest shows to date. More than 2,000 people attended and 225 exhibitors highlighted equipment, services, and technologies. The show drew its highest numbers to date from international participation with India, Australia, China, Russia, Ukraine, South Africa, and a number of other na- tions involved in coal preparation. The end of the first day was celebrated with a 25 year anniversary party in the lobby of the convention center with some blues music, great food and conversation. Sam Posa was in his glory as he made his way around to visit with friends. I had an opportunity to walk the floor with Sam to get some photos for a story CPM fea- tured in the June Issue. It re-confirmed why he’s gotten the name Sam “the Prep Man” Posa. One of our stops was with Bruce and Geordie with McLanahan Corp. It involved some singing of Dean Martin songs as they were brainstorm- ing for some headlines for the Posa ar- ticle. Their headline idea was, “The Dean Martin of Coal Prep.” It was a play on two words, Dean and Martin. Dean, “the head of”, and Martin, “one handsome guy.” Then the song began, “Everybody Loves Somebody.” If you know Sam, you understand the Dean Martin mean- ing behind the headline. Thanks for the entertainment guys, it’s always good to share some stories with you. We had some new visitors to our booth this year, Jeff Harding with EBN Con- struction & Industrial Supplies. Jeff was new to the show this year. He’s exploring other show options that would be a good fit for his company. Look for EBN at the 2009 show, they have a lot to offer the industry. Nice to finally put a face with the voice Jeff, good to talk with you! Jim McHugh with Kraft Power stopped by for a nice visit. Jim is doing a lot of traveling this year in the show circuit, both exhibiting and attending. He enjoyed the educational programs and participated in a few of the sessions while in Lexington. Nice to meet you Jim! What would a show be without a visit with our dear friend Marty Walker with Con- venience Products. Marty was introduc- ing Glenn around. Look for some exciting news about Epic Metals in upcoming issues of CPM. Marty is always such a pleasure. His stories and childlike en- thusiasm bring a smile to my face. Don’t ever lose that quality Marty and get too serious on us. CBP Engineering/ The Greenbank Group introduced a new employee while exhibiting at the show, Pablo Espinoza. Pablo has joined the team as its Latin American Sales Engineer. He will lead the efforts for increasing the sales of the GGI companies: CBP Engineering Corp’s. abrasion resistant products and Geordi Edmiston, Scott Burns, and Bruce Daskivich with McLanahan Corp. Pablo said: “Attending the Coal Prep Show was an enriching professional and personal experience. I met a lot of inter- esting people to share experiences with and had fun talking too. After recover- ing from my first Coal Prep Show I am already looking forward for the next one. I hope I wasn’t there just to show that CBP has salesmen with hair too! Nos vemos el próximo año!” “Asistir a la exhibición Coal Prep. fue una experiencia enriquecedora en lo per- sonal y profesional. Me permitió conocer mucha gente interesante para intercam- biar experiencias y una conversación entretenida. Después de recuperarme de mi primer Coal Prep., ya estoy pre- parándome para el próximo. Espero que no haya estado allí sólo para mostrar que CBP también tiene vendedores con pelo. See you next year! Speaking of no hair... Paul Yandora with Scantech was sporting a new do, or should we say non-do. Paul has been a pleasure to get to know over the years and his new head of non-hair has made him look ten years younger. I was a little skeptical to bring that up at first, but he just smiled and loves hearing that over and over from people who see his new look. Speaking of no hair... Paul Yandora with Scantech was sporting a new do, or should we say non-do. Paul has been a pleasure to get to know over the years and his new head of non-hair has made him look ten years younger. I was a little skeptical to bring that up at first, but he just smiled and loves hearing that over and over from people who see his new look.

show this year. They should be proud of their accomplishments in the safety arena in the industry. AMR’s Mine Net™ System was developed as a result of re-cent state and federal legislation require-ments and has been approved by both the state of West Virginia and MSHA. The system wirelessly tracks and com-municates with miners underground to and from the surface.

CPM offered an advertising giveaway at the show. The winner was Linatex Cor-poration of America receiving $600 worth of advertising. Linatex was established in Malaysia in the 1920s and revolutionized the concept of industrial wear designs and solutions using rubber. Since then, Linatex has grown to a global organiza-tion offering an extensive range of com-plimentary products and services. Prod-ucts can be delivered anywhere in the world and they work with your team on special projects to gain access to inter-national markets. We’re looking forward to hearing more about this company in upcoming issues.

Coal People is gearing up for its next show - MINExpo in September. We’ve pulled out all the stops to provide adver-tisers an opportunity to have increased awareness at the show and help expand booth traffic. We’ve developed a promo-tional plan with advertising options to fit any budget and ad concept/design as-sistance at no additional cost. Call your sales representative today to discuss the details! With Coal People, what happens in Vegas won’t stay in Vegas - it will be highlighted in the post-show issue. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone. Stop by our booth #1770 for a visit and to reg-ister for the advertising give away. Continue for more photos from Coal Prep 2008.
