NUMBER 12 – DECEMBER 2017 GRANTED THE PRODUCTION OF SERVICES FOR THE OPENING AND CLOSING CEREMONIES OF TARRAGONA 2018 The Tender for the management of the social networks is already awaiting to be granted The production services for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 18th Mediterranean Games have now been awarded to the company “Serveis de l’Espectacle Focus SA“. They already had granted the script and the production of both ceremonies. They will be responsible for the production of both events throughout, from the management, to the execution of the artistical and technical planning and production, to the set-up and rehearsals to the final dismantling of both the opening and closing ceremonies of Tarragona 2018. The Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 18th Mediterranean Games will take place on 22 June and 1 July 2018 respectively at the Nou Estadi de Tarragona. Furthermore, the tender to allocate the social network profile management of the 18th Mediterranean Games and its maintenance has been launched. This tender is now awaiting to be granted. THE SPANISH OLYMPIC COMMITTEE HELD A TECHNICAL MEETING ABOUT TARRAGONA 2018 Around 50 representatives of the Spanish sports federations gathered Last November, the headquarters of the Spanish Olympic Committee hosted an informative technical meeting for the Spanish Sport Federations about their participation at the Mediterranean Games Tarragona 2018. The meeting counted with the presence of fifty officials who dealt with technical and sports issues, as well as accommodation for athletes and officials at the Mediterranean Village. Alejandro Blanco, President of the Spanish Olympic Committee, opened the meeting. The Executive Director of Tarragona 2018 and Treasurer of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Víctor Sánchez, and the Directors of Sport, Ramón Cuadrat, and of International Relations and Protocol, Cayetano Cornet, also helped chairing the meeting. The Spanish Olympic Committee Sports´ Director, Ricardo Leiva, participated as well in the meeting. TARRAGONA 2018 TAKES PART IN THE NEW EDITION OF THE SPORT EVENTS FORUMThe forum took place in the premises of the Spanish Olympic Committee
The Mediterranean Games Tarragona 2018 were present in the II Sports Events Forum organised by the specialised sport media ¨Diario As¨ in the offices of the Spanish Olympic Committee. The Mayor and President of the Organising Committee of Tarragona 2018, Josep Fèlix Ballesteros, participated in a round table together with the president of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Alejandro Blanco, and the Director of Institutional and International Relations of the State Lottery, Manuel Gómez Amigó. The most relevant matters of the organization of the Mediterranean Games 2018, in Tarragona and 15 other municipalities, were addressed in the round table. Some of those topics were the sports calendar, the cultural and educative program, the legacy and the fundamental role of the volunteers.The president of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Alejandro Blanco, reiterated his confidence in the Tarragona Games emphasising that they
will be “the best games ever”, and that the participation of the athletes will be “numerous and relevant, with leading athletes”.On his behalf, the president of the Organising Committee, Josep Fèlix Ballesteros, underlined the institutional, political and territorial unity that exists to guarantee the success of Tarragona 2018, as Games of “peace, harmony and intercultural and religious dialogue”.
The State Lottery, main sponsor of Tarragona 2018, explained that the support to the Games is solid, considering their involvement in Spanish cultural and sports events.
THE DEPARTMENT OF VOLUNTEERS CARRIES OUT A SPECIFIC RECRUITMENT IN TARRAGONA AND REUSFocused on two main areas: languages and support to competition

stages of the recruitment of specialized volunteers. Reason why during the past month a series of specific recruitments were carried out to increase the Games´ volunteers.
Specialists from the Volunteers´ Department visited the Official School of Languages in both Tarragona and Reus. They carried out a basic training focused on the average student profile in those learning centres; people with the ability to speak various languages, who are the skills we need for our upcoming event.
At the Institut Tapiró of Reus, around a hundred students of the Sports Advanced Degree were gathered to attend a conference focused on their skills. These were students majoring in Sport, which could become a great Volunteer profile to support competition in the various sports and venues.
LA SELVA DEL CAMP HOSTED ITS ENTITY FAIR WITH REPRESENTATION OF TARRAGONA 2018About 1,000 people were fully involved in the Entity Fair of La Selva del Camp. A very important event for this small town, which is one of the municipalities hosting a competition venue (Fencing). The Games were well represented and welcomed by many Fair visitors.
ALTAFULLA PROUDLY DISPLAYS A MEDITERRANEAN GAMES GRAFFITIThe graphic artist Orion Leim has made a big mural painting in Altafulla, exclusively about the Mediterranean Games Tarragona 2018, displaying the mascot Tarracvs and triathlon images since this town will host this competition. Altafulla is getting ready for the Games!

TORREDEMBARRA AND TARRACVS VIBRATE AT THE SPORTS PARTY
Torredembarra celebrated the Sports´ Party again this year, giving the Mediterranean Games Tarragona 2018 again a relevant presence. The mascot Tarracvs, one of the icons of the Games, couldn’t miss this day
full of planned sport activities, mostly for the little ones. Boys and girls welcomed its presence with pictures and hugs, proving once again, that Tarracvs is one of the most wanted figures at the sport events which take place all over the territory.
Tarracu´s visit to Altafulla to a school organized race, gathering lots of kids between 4 and 15 years old, was also a very special event.
