NOW THEREFORE I, MIKE HURLEY, MAYOR OF BURNABY, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM SEPTEMBER 12 AS GRANDPARENTS’ DAY IN THE CITY OF BURNABY. W hereas the Government of Canada has designated the second Sunday in September to be Grandparents’ Day in Canada; and WHEREAS Grandparents’ Day celebrates the tremendous contributions that seniors have made to all aspects of our community; and WHEREAS Grandparents’ Day celebrates biological grandparents in addition to grandparent-like figures who enrich the lives of children; and WHEREAS Grandparents in Burnaby provide wisdom, guidance and insight to younger generations, thereby ensuring a brighter future for Burnaby and Canada; and WHEREAS Intergenerational relations between seniors and youth enrich our community and reinforce connectedness amongst all citizens of Burnaby.
