WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY: NOVEMBER 4This year’s Horizon’s Bible Study is Love Carved in Stone: A Fresh Look at the Ten Commandments. We meet for one hour on the first Monday of every month through June at 5:30 p.m. in the Hope Room. The books are $10 and are available in the church office and at meetings.

ALL SAINTS DAY AND 50+ YEAR MEMBER RECOGNITIONOn November 3rd, First Presbyterian Church of Salina will be honoring its saints: Those who have died in the past year, and our still-living 50+ year members. All Saints Day is Friday, November 1st. It was established by the early church as an opportunity to honor all the saints, known and unknown. In the Reformed tradition, All Saints' Day has a different focus. While we may give thanks for the lives of particular luminaries of ages past, the emphasis is on the ongoing sanctification of the whole people of God. Rather than putting saints on pedestals as holy people set apart in glory, we give glory to God for the ordinary, holy lives of the believers in this and every age. Thus, it is appropriate to give thanks to members of our community of faith who have died in the past year, as well as 50+ year members. We also pray that we may be counted among the company of the faithful in God's eternal realm.

VETERANS DAY TRIBUTE: NOVEMBER 10Veterans Day is the day set aside to thank and honor all those who served in the military -- in wartime or peacetime. Veterans Day is largely intended to thank living veterans for their service. FPC would like to compile a list of veterans in our midst, and to honor them on Sunday, November 10th, in advance of Veterans Day, November 11th. If you are a veteran, or have any family members who have served in the armed forces, please provide

the information to Beth in the church office ([email protected]) by Tuesday, November 5th, so that we can compile a special commemorative tribute.

PRESBYTERIAN MANOR SOUP SUPPER: NOVEMBER 1Presbyterian Manor's 39th Annual Soup Supper is on Friday, November 1, from 4-7:30 p.m. Homemade chili and chicken noodle soup are served with crackers and a slice of pie of your choice. Pies will be from Carriage Crossing Restaurant in Yoder. Yum! There will be a silent auction and special donation drawings as well. Tickets are available at Salina Presbyterian Manor or you can call Melissa McCoy at 785-825-1366. Advance tickets are $8. Tickets at the door are $9. Children 10 and younger are $6. Serving hours are: Dine-in: 4:30-7:30 p.m. Carry-out: 4-7 p.m. Proceeds from the supper will benefit the Good Samaritan program, which serves an important aspect of the Presbyterian Manor’s mission: to ensure that residents continue to have a home here even if they deplete their funds through no fault of their own. They will have a shuttle bus available from the parking area south of Crawford.

COMING UP THIS WEEK AT FPC: Did we make a mistake? We want to correct it! Email [email protected] and we'll fix it.

GROUNDED IN CREED: ADULT EDUCATION CLASSThe Apostles’ Creed has been around for about 1,500 years, and has grounded the faith of the Christian church ever since. But why does it say what it says? Have you ever been puzzled by some of its phrases? Want to learn more about what each section says? If you’re curious, we hope you will join us in the six-week study Grounded in Creed. We meet in the Hope Room on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. for this book and DVD-based discussion from October 20 – November 24. Books are available in the church office for a $13 donation.

SIGN UP TO HOST OUR GOD SQUAD GROUP FOR DINNERAre you interested in hosting our God Squad (middle school) group for dinner at your house this fall? We meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:45 - 7:45.
