The Rotaract Club of SRM Easwari Engineering College visted”

The Good Life centre “, located at West Tambaram which is an

orphanage that houses around 165 children of God. The visit took

place on the tenth of september, 2017 and about 25 Rotaracters

actively engaged themselves to share their support and love.

On reaching there, we joined the children , who were excitedly

waiting for us!The Rotaracters engaged the children by singing,

dancing and playing fun games with them and the kids in return

entertained all of us with their amazing talents.Though we had

prepared few interesting stories to tell them, they had even more

interesting ones about their dreams to share with us!.Their eyes

sparkling with hopes to make it bigger someday, not too much

worried about tomorrow, supportive of each other , they had lots

to tell us , the grown ups!.We just wished we did not succumb to

the harsh realities and expectations of life but celebrate everyday!

The celebrations were filled with fun, frolic and nostalgia till it

came to an end with cake cutting! We wanted to gift them a

memorable day but it was definitely memorable for all of us

.This was one day when all of us became kids and went back to

our childhood , catching up with our weirdest and craziest

memories...The visit to an orphanage is always a life changing

experience, cause from then on we shall start appreciating the

little things in life!...

Fun to the fullest

After the installation ceremony of the Rotaract club of SRM

Easwari Engineering college on the 17th August 2017 , we, the

Rotaract members decided to have the lunch in a good

restaurant . After a lot of discussions we finally took a good

decision of going to the Cozee restaurant which is located near

by the Beasant Nagar beach . We took nearly 3 or 4 cars and it

was around 2 PM when we reached there. The entire

restaurant was filled with our club members . It was around 3

PM when we started eating. The entire afternoon was fully fun .

After our lunch , we went to the beach and enjoyed to the

fullest. This will definitely be an unforgettable day for all the

Rotaracters. We had unexpected fun and beautiful memories

which would always stay in our minds.

RALLY FOR THE RIVERS

- A Rally for the Valleys

Venue – YMCA Ground, Nandanam, Chennai

raise awareness that our rivers are depleting. Everyone who consumes

water must Rally For Rivers. “ – Sadhguru (ISHA)

As The Deivappulavar Says… Without Water… There would be nothing

in this world

Today Our Experts Say… The 65% of our daily Water needs are met by

Rivers. Climate Changes are already occurring at a higher phenomenal

rate. And Our Rivers are either drying up or being flooded resulting

ultimately in crop failure either way. With every problem comes a

solution set… is the Universal Nature. And Isha’s Sadhguru Sir came up

with a brilliant idea of PLANTING Forests and Vegetation alongside

River banks.

Our Rotaract Club Of SRM Easwari Had always lent a helping hand to

people with a cause. We thus went to Participate in The RALLY FOR

RIVERS Campaign which was held at YMCA Ground in Nandanam,

Chennai On 10- 09- 17 . It was in the form of a musical Concert

mainly… Famous Playback Singers Usha Uthup and Karthik performed

live at the stage to attract more people towards the campaign. The

Chief Guests of Honour for the Event were Our Hon’ble Chief Minister

Edappadi K. Palanysamy and Our Hon’ble Deputy CM O.

Panneerselvam. A special Performance was given by Actor Padmashri

Dr. Vivek who is already a big environmental activist . Dr. Vivek

performed live on the stage by singing a song composed for the RALLY .

Our Club Members were actively participating in the event and we lent

a helping hand to all those organizers by distributing their sponsored

Water Bottles to the crowd and controlling the crowd. Finally The CM

of Tamil Nadu announced he will surely take a step to make the

necessary arrangements for the Rally For Rivers Campaign to be a

success. We also Assured that wherever they needed help we would

always be helping them for their Much Vital Cause .

The Meme contest

The Rotaract club of SRM Easwari Engineering college held a Meme

contest in the month of September 2017. The topic of the contest was

ENGINEERING TROLLS . Nearly 30 entries came from various

departments of our college.

The main motive of this contest is to make the fresher's aware of the

club and also to promote the Facebook page of our club. As memes are

in trend now a days, it gave us the basic idea for the contest.

The winners were chosen based on their creativity and innovation of

meme templates. Apart from the winners , the meme created by the other

contestants were also equally competitive . This contest would have

surely motivated the fresher’s and would stimulate their interest in

joining more events.

“STREET PLAY”

VENUE : Aavin Parlour, Arcot Road

“All the world's a stage,

And all the men and women merely players;

They have their exits and their entrances,

And one man in his time plays many parts,

His acts being seven ages….

But here we got to see many different faces of a man….

The Rotaract Club of SRM Easwari Engineering College had

conducted auditions for the Street Play on the 17th of September,

2017.

This was an opportunity for everyone to perform and discover

the many faces of oneself! Creative expressions, deep emotions

were well potrayed by every participant. Each participant gave a

new colour to the character with their unique gestures and body

language.There was new dimension in every performance as

every induvitual had something to convey through the character

in their own sense through personal experience and their

knowledge mixed with imaginary flavours. Afterall “Acting is

behaving truthfully under imaginary circumstances!”…

The auditions saw many versatile performers who walked in

from different colleges.They had their own style of dramatizing

the given situations. Overall, the performances were unique and

was exciting to watch and comment!

Out of the lot, the most craziest bunch of performers were chosen

to put up the Street Play! Who shall gaurentee 200%

entertainment …!!!

The Terry Fox Run ~2k17

The Terry Fox Run is an annual non-competitive charity event held in

numerous regions around the world in commemoration of Canadian cancer

activists , Terry Fox ,and his Marathon of Hope, and to raise money for

cancer research.

Terry Fox Run Chennai, in its Ninth year, was brought to Chennai in 2009

by a teenage Akash Dube, a cancer patient, with the help of the Rotary Club

of Madras East & IIT Madras. He had participated in the Terry Fox Run Dubai

since a child. The last 8 runs have been an amazing success with more than

30,000 supporters participating, and many celebrities giving their support.

Our club members have done their best to make this marathon a successful

one every year. We, at the Rotaract club of SRM Easwari Engineering

College have taken up the baton to continue his legacy – The Run; and

ensure that his spirit lives on! Everyone is welcome to participate in a Terry

Fox Run, regardless of age, athletic ability or socio-economic standing.

While the Run does not have an entry fee or minimum donation we do ask

all participants to fundraise or make a donation.

“HITBEATZ 2K17”

VENUE : Rajas Cricket Club,Tharapakkam

DATE : September 17 & 24 , 2017


Winning is only half of it while having fun is the other half !!!! What if

you get both in abundance?!!That was what was HiITBEATZ 2K17 all

about!

HITBEATZ 2K17 , The most expected tournament of the year

happened was organized by The Rotaract Club of SRM Easwari

Engineering College on the 17th and 24th of September, 2017. Out of the

22 teams who participated , 11 teams qualified for the next round.

Around 10 matches were conducted on the Day 1 and the semifinals

and finals took place on the day 2 , 24th sep 17.the matches went

through do or die situations ,along with the mass shots by the players

kept the audiences wondering if the next ball was a four or a six!!!

The team comprising of the 3rd mechanical department emerged as the

winners of the match under the captainship of Uttar , from the same

department and the runner up was bagged by the third year ,civil

department whose captain was Balaji , who was honoured with the

player of the tournament shield!

The winners were awarded with trophy and cash prize along with

certificates.

Cricket was never a game , but a symbol of unity was well proved by

this tournament!

MUSIC CONCERT

Here we experienced it!… “

“OOH LA LALA“was a refreshing and energetic music concert By super

singer fame Nikhil Mathew and Priyanka, as a fund raising event for the

cancer institute.The show was on the evening of august 25th,2017 at The

Music Academy ,Mylapore.TheRotaracters of Rotaract Club of SRM

Easwari Engineering college took pride in being a part of such a

show.Neha and Alphonso were two other performing artists of the

evening .the singers took turns in performing various songs that ranged

from the evergreen eighties to the modern music.this was a treat to the ears

of the wide ranged audience of different age groups.thesongs chosen to

perform included soft melodies , peppy numbers and also folk to get the

audience on floor!.

The accompanying percussion artists gavegoosebummps every time they

played with their instruments and emphasized the magic of music!!! This

show made” Ganesh Chathurthi” even more special and pleasantful …

FUND RAISER EVENT

“GLITZZ ’17 ”

“He who has health and hygiene, has hope, And he who has hope,

has everything.”

The Rotaract Club of SRM Easwari Engineering College takes

pride in hosting the great event “ Glitzz ’17 -Create Hygiene !

Create Future !”which is a fund raising project on the cause of

sanitation. It took place on the 24th of Septmeber, 2017 at the

Ethiraj College for Women, Chennai.

The event was graced by the presence of chief guest Rtn Babu

Peram, special invitee Rtr.PP.Dhanakodi ,guest of honour

Samson Derick Rajakumar and Dr.A.Nirmala, Principle of Ethiraj

College for Women.

This was a cultural event which had variety of activities both on

stage and off stage for which participants walked In from

different colleges.There were many online contests conducted too.

The stall setup and other ground venue works were taken up by

Rtr Santhosh and Rtr Koushik. All the members of the club

worked in different groups under the leadership of Community

Service Chairman Rtr Naveen, making it a grand success!.

OLD AGE HOME VISIT

The first event of SRM Easwari ‘s Rotaract Club for the tenure

2017-18 was the visit to Sri Vinayaga Old Age Home located at

KK Nagar, Chennai.The visit took place on the first of july, 2017

and about 25 Rotaracters actively enrolled themselves to lend

their support and love.

On reaching there, we joined the residents of the old age

home.We bought them fruits and biscuits as a token of our

affection.Rotaracters started interaction with the people there

who welcomed us with a warm smile in their faces and tears

that swelled up in their eyes to express their unlimited joy and

happiness when we told them that we were there just for

them.

Different stories, different emotions and different pasts!,Each

one of the people there had lots to say and just wanted some

one to hear them out and there we lend our pair of ears.

Smiles , tears , laughter filled in their nostalagic recollections

while all of this had brought us a sympatheticfeeling.They

shared with us their interests ,time pass activities , and some of

them expressed themselves by singing and talking about their

college days!

From our side we wanted to give them a pleasant company

and so the rotaracterssang , played the flute to their favorite

songs and also mimicked their favorite heros.We wanted to gift

them a memorableday but it was definitely memorable for all

of us .

As age grows,we realized we need to hold their hands and

walk the path showering constant support and love thereby not

building homes far away from us…
