1. MCC Rodeo hosts High Class Buckaroo Bash February 14th February 4, 2015 On Saturday, February 14, 2015, Miles Community College will be hosting the Annual High Class Buckaroo Bash. Tickets are $50.00 each. Dinner will be provided at the MCC Centra with a live and silent auction. Cocktails will start at 6:00 pm, with dinner at 7:00 pm, and the live auction at 8:00 pm. The silent auction will begin at 6:00 pm and continues until the live auction ends. All proceeds benefit the Miles Community College Rodeo Team Scholarship Funds. Women take 3rd, Men capture 4th in Miles Community College StampedeSeptember 22, 2014(Miles City, MT) The Miles Community College Rodeo team continued their fall schedule hosting the annual MCC Stampede this past weekend. The Men completed the weekend with 280 points and a 4th place finish, while the Women came in 3rd with 110 points.Logan Nielsen and Colton Green finished 2nd and 3rd in the Saddle Bronc, respectively. Nielsen tallied 64 points, while Green snagged 56 points.Casey Reder completed the weekend with a 3rd place finish in the Bull Riding with 74 points.Ava Rankin grabbed 20.3 points as she finished 2nd as a Heeler in the Team Roping Competition.Currently, the Men's team sits alone in 5th place with 659.50 in the Big Sky Region. The Women have amassed 230.33 points and sit in 6th place of the Region.For the season, Colton Green and Logan Nielsen are 5th and 6th place respectively in the Saddle Bronc. Lathe Arnston has earned 102 points in route to 7th place in the Bareback Riding standings. Bull Rider Casey Reder is in 4th place with 140 pointsCowgirl Ava Rankin ranks 8th in Heeling and Cowboy Logan Nielsen is in 13th place of the Region. Cowgirl Laurel White currently sits in 14th place with 50.3 points in Goat Tying.MCC concludes their fall schedule when they travel to Dillon, MT for the University of Montana-Western Rodeo September 26-28.

Schroth brothers finish careers strong at CNFR, Riley places in BarrelsJune 19, 2013Casper WY- Miles Community College Saddle Bronc rider Travis Schroth (Buffalo Gap, SD) finished off his Pioneer career with a 4th place overall finish at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming last week.

Schroth placed in all four go-rounds to secure the 4th place finish in the Saddle Bronc. In round 1, he scored a 52.5, followed by a 74.5 in round 2, and a 63.0 in round 3. On the final day short go, he rode the required 8 seconds to a score of 73.5 and finished with a 263.5 in the average.Travis's twin brother Dillon, finished off his sophomore campaign with a 15th place finish at the finals. In round 1 and round 3 he finished with scores of 65.0 and 63.5, respectively. He finished with a 128.5 average.As a duo, the twins earned enough points to qualify for a 28th place finish as a team.Freshman Barrel Racer Jamie Riley (Crow Agency, MT) ended her first year as a Pioneer with a 26th place finish at the CNFR. She finished round 1 with a time of 14.79. In round 2 she completed her race with a score of 14.75 and followed that up with a third round final of 14.37.

5. Rodeo finishes 3rd at MSU spring rodeo

The Miles Community College rodeo team kicked off their 2013 spring season at the annual Montana State University spring rodeo at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse in Bozeman, MT.

Rodeo #1- April 4-6

In rodeo #1, the men finished in 3rd place as a team and witnessed three top two finishes and Jamie Riley(Crow Agency, MT)finished third in barrel racing.

Justin Miller(Billings, MT) finished in second place in the bareback with a three day total score of 153 points. Teammate J.W Thrush(Gillette, WY) placed second with a three day combined score of 25 seconds in the tie down roping and Travis Schroth(Buffalo Gap, SD) finished with a score of 143 and first place finish in the saddle bronc.

It is the fifth consecutive year that a MCC Pioneer has won the saddle bronc riding at the MSU rodeo, with four different guys accomplishing the feat.

Riley finished with a three day total of 30.70 seconds in the barrel racing, good for third place in rodeo #1.

Rodeo # 2

In Sunday's matinee, the men finished again in third place as a team with Riley placing seventh in barrel racing.

Dillon Schroth (Buffalo Gap, SD) finished first in saddle bronc, while Justin Miller placed second in saddle bronc and Cody Terrett (Colstrip, MT) was close behind with a fourth place finish in the saddle bronc.

MCC competes in the Big Sky Region that is comprised of Montana State University (Bozeman, MT), University of Montana (Missoula, MT),University of Montana, Western (Dillon, MT), Montana State University, Northern Havre, MT), University of Great Falls (Great Falls, MT),Northwest College(Powell, WY) and Dawson Community College(Glendive, MT).

The Pioneers hit the road for their next event when they travel to Glendive, MT April 26-28th.

6. Riley and Rankin cap off careers at College National Finals

June 24, 2014

The duo finished 25th in Casper, WY

(Casper, WY) Ava Rankin and Jamie Riley finished off their sophomore campaigns at Miles Community College at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper June 15-21. The duo combined for 40.0 points and a 25th place finish at this year’s Finals.

Rankin capped off her career with an 18th place finish in the Breakaway Roping, amassing the 40.0 total points. She scored a 2.5 in the first go around 1, followed by a 3.3 in the second go. She did not place in the third go or the short go. Her two round total placed her at an average of 5 .8 at the 2014 CNFR.

Riley competed at the CNFR for the second straight season, finishing with a three round average of 44.53, and a 35th place finish. In the first go, she finished with a time of 14.68, followed by a 14.88 and 14.97 in the second and third rounds, respectively.

7. Rodeo concludes fall schedule, Women take 3rd in Dillon

(Dillon, MT) MCC Rodeo Veteran and former College National Finals Rodeo participant Ava Rankin, finished her fall season with a 4th place finish at the finale in Dillon this past weekend when she finished with an 8.3 in the Breakaway Roping.

As a team, the Cowgirls finished in 3rd place with 115 points. The women currently sit in 6th place of the Big Sky Region with 345.33 points.

The Men's team is currently in 6th place of the Region with 679.50 points, 21.5 points behind Blackfeet Community College.

Cowboys Colton Green and Logan Nielsen are in 6th and 7th place respectively in the Saddle Bronc. Green has amassed 188.5 points this fall, while Nielsen is close behind with 179 points.

Lathe Arnston sits alone in 7th place in the Bareback Riding with 102 points and Casey Reder is in 5th place with 140 points in the Bull Riding

On the Women's side, Ava Rankin is in 11th place with 110 points as a Team Roping Heeler and Laurel White currently ranks 15th with 50.3 points in the Goat Tying.

The Cowboys and Cowgirls will take a break until April when they continue their Big Sky Region Rodeo tour.

8. Two Place in Barrel Racing

(Miles City, MT) – The Miles Community College men’s and women’s rodeo teams each had individuals that placed throughout the weekend. With each team picking up points this past weekend, the men’s team finished fourth in their home rodeo while the women came home fifth.

Travis Schroth (Buffalo Gap, SD) finished second in saddle bronc and teamed up with his brother Dillon to earn a 7th place finish in team roping. With the two places, Travis earned enough points to finish fourth in the men’s all-around standings.

Ian Fugere (Belfield, ND) also placed in the saddle bronc, finishing in fourth place.

On the women’s side, MCC picked up a couple of places in barrel racing. Led by Jamie Riley (Crow Agency) who finished third in the event while teammate Michelle Lucke (Belgrade) finished eighth. The two helped the Lady Pioneers to a fifth place finish at the MCC Stampede.

The rodeo team will wrap up the fall with a trip to Dillon this weekend to compete in the University of Montana – Western event.

9. McKinney wins DSU Invitational, Jamestown takes team Title

April 13, 2015

Pioneer sophomore shoots a DSU Invitational best 74

(Dickinson, ND)- Pioneer Sophomore Jake McKinney shot a 37 on the front 9 and followed that up with 37 on the back 9 as he finished in first place at the Dickinson State University Invitational on Masters Sunday.

The 74 from McKinney was one stroke better than Mitch Hagenson from Jamestown University who shot a 75. Fellow Pioneer Boyd Sinclair finished with a total score of 91 after shooting a 44 on the front 9 and a 47 on the backside.

10. Golf wraps up Fall season

October 10, 2014

(Great Falls, MT) The Men's and Women's Golf teams wrapped up their 2014 Fall schedule as they traveled to Great Falls, October 6-7th for the University of Great Falls Frontier Invite.

Competing as individual participants; the trio of Dane Martinson, Jake McKinney, and Boyd Sinclair finished 28th, 31st, and 42nd, respectively.

In 3 rounds, Martinson shot an 87, 74, and 77, finishing with a total combined score of 238. McKinney was in close proximity of his teammate as he finished at 240 strokes after shooting a 79, 77, and 84. Boyd Sinclair rounded out the scoring with 279 strokes and a 42nd place finish. He shot a 99, 91, and 89 in rounds 1-3 on the weekend.

The Women's team finished in 8th place as they accounted for 838 strokes and finished at +262. Once again, Elle Milohov led the charge as she finished in 34th place after shooting a two round combined score of 200. She finished at +56. Annie Olsen and Jordan Sparby tied for 39th place after finishing at +65, and concluding with a combined score of 209. Abi Forseth and Courtnee Zuehlsdorff finished 42nd and 45th, respectively. Forseth completed her two rounds at +77, while shooting a 221, and Zuehlsdorff shot a 241 and finished with a +97.

The Golf teams will take a break from action for the several months as they prepare for their spring schedule.

11. Lady Pioneers place 4th at DSU Invitational

April 13, 2015

(Dickinson State, ND) The sophomore duo of Elle Milohov and Annie Olsen led the MCC Women's Golf team to a 4th place finish at the Dickinson State Invitational Sunday afternoon.

As a team, Miles placed ahead of Valley City after finishing with a score of 419. In the one day event, Milohov shot a 49 on the front 9 followed by a 47 on the back 9 for a total of 96.

Freshman Jordan Sparby shot a 53 in each round for a 106, while Olsen finished with a 107 after shooting a 51 on the front 9 and 56 on the back 9.

Abi Forseth rounded out the scoring with a 110.

12. Miles CC Women in 6th place after Round 1, Milohov leads team after shooting 90

(Billings, MT) The Women's Golf Team of Miles Community College kick started their 2015 spring season yesterday in the MSUB Yellowjacket Spring Invitational located at Pryor Creek Golf Course in Huntley, MT.

After Round 1, the Ladies currently sit in 6th place after shooting a combined 402. Black Hills State is in 5th place after shooting 349 in Round 1.

MCC Sophomore Elle Milohov currently sits in a tie for 19th place after shooting a 90, while Courtnee Zuehlsdorff finished Round 1 shooting 97 and a 28th place.

Annie Olsen currently sits in 33rd place after shooting a 107 and teammate Jordan Sparby sits one stroke back of Olsen with a 108 and 34th place. Abi Forseth rounded out the team scoring after shooting a 119 and currently sits in 36th place.

The Ladies hit the links again this morning for Round 2 at Pryor Creek with a shotgun start slated at 9:00 am.
