I know all our members will work hard to keep safe and obey restrictions to help us stay open. This month I want to acknowledge once again our many volunteers who have achieved so many goals over the last few months. I may have even missed some volunteers here in this impressive list. When you get a chance please express your gratitude to them. Our first big competition will be our August One Day Trap Carnival on August 9. Great value for 130 targets! Spread the word and bring a mate or two. Please Acknowledge Our Recent Achievements By Outstanding Volunteers: In the last 6 months the GCCTC committee, volunteers and members have achieved the following:- New Traps: We aim to throw great targets for our great members. $96,000 has been spent on new Laporte traps for skeet, DTL and sporting. Thank you Anna Shedrina from Bronzewing/Laporte for your support. Thank you Terry Morony and Stratco for donating all the steel for frames for the DTL traps. John King spent 2 -3 days a week welding these frames and other works required. The welder was loaned to John from the Beenleigh Men’s Shed. All the new traps are now working well. Two wireless voice release machines are now available for skeet. Thank you Dean Crouch of Top Shot Industries. Thank you Wayne Perry, Danny Cokely, Geoff Christopher, Joe Apiata, John King, Terry Morony, Paul Santarossa and others for all your assistance in getting this done under difficult circumstances brought on by Covid-19. New electrical work to the traps and a new electrical panel in the clubhouse will ensure compliance and safety. Old Traps: The committee and volunteers have re-conditioned these ready for resale. Two skeet traps sold to Toowoomba, two DTL traps to Narrabri and another two to go to another NSW club. Bill McCarthy spent days upgrading, repairing and installing new speakers, leads and electric equipment on the machines we have sold. The sale of these traps recouped over $20,000 back to the Club. We have 2 skeet traps and 4 DTL traps still available to sell. Grounds: Posts and netting have been installed to improve safety between layouts 3 and 4 with additional poles for future netting installation between layouts 1 and 2. Thank you to Joe Apiata for the donation of all the poles. The grounds maintenance team have been busy mowing, whipper snipping, edging and poisoning thanks to Ian Lochran, Joe Apiata, John King, Sheryl Apiata and others. Our grounds look like a park. All the trap houses have been painted. A new roof on the low house of layout 3 has been installed. Trap referee chairs have been re-stained thanks to Emma Parsons and Shaun Bennett. The trap referee stands have been refurbished and painted and John King has attached wheels for easier mobility. Geoff Christopher donated a Hilux ute for a general runabout on the grounds. (Kev Jackson now takes twice as many clays to the new trap hoppers with ease!). The concrete paths, verandahs and water tank have been pressure washed.
