记得以前的语法是说做所有格的词不能用代词来指代，本题中很明显地与此相违背。句子前半句未划线部分有一个 her，说明逗号后面一定有相应的“谁”来做主语。从而D与 E应该是错的，我当时在ABC的比较中选了 C。AB没有选是因为名词的 discovery与动名词的 documenting不是那么地平行，用其名词形式的 documenation更好，而且也是更重要的是documenting前面有一个副词 painstakingly修饰 documenting，从而说明documenting在这里是作动词，而非与 discovery并列的动名词。But

unfortunately，给出的正确答案却是D。我认为D显然后面的两个名词并列没有问题，但是用 contribution作主语合适吗？前半句中的 her可以来指代作所有格的 Leakey吗？
