Message from the Principal –

SCHOOL PHOTOS Our School Photo day is on Thursday 28th July. The photo envelopes have arrived and are being sent home with this newsletter. Photo envelopes must be returned ON PHOTO DAY with the correct money enclosed. No change can be given by the school office. It is vital that each child returns his/her own envelope, even if payment is enclosed in a sibling’s envelope. The school does not arrange the payment for photos. This is a parental/carer responsibility. The envelopes are self-explanatory with price breakdowns, methods of payment and options to select. To make payment after photography day you can choose one of the following options:

1) Go to the website www.theschoolphotographer.com.au and select the “click here for online payments” button and follow the on-screen instructions OR

2) Call the School Photographer office on 9674 9824 and they will take your credit card payment over the phone. (Please note that there is a processing fee of $5.00 for phone payments.)

Please note that if you pay online before photo day you are still required to send in your child’s photo envelope on the day of photography, as the photographers use the barcode on your child’s envelope to identify your child/family and payment details. SIBLING/FAMILY ENVELOPES If you would like family photos (child and siblings), please come into the office for an envelope as soon as possible. There are 2 family packs and personalised gifts to choose from. Again, please bring the envelope to school on the day with payment or the envelope with confirmation of payment for the photographers.

NAIDOC / Multicultural Celebrations NAIDOC Day will be celebrated at our school this Friday 1st July 2016. We welcome Barrington Public School, Stratford Public School, Gloucester Pre School and Barrington Street Pre-school. There will be a sausage sizzle for lunch paid for by the school. We look forward to the day and working closely with the AECG.

Semester 1 Reports This Thursday you will receive your child’s semester 1 report. Please read the front of the report with the explanation on assessment of achievement. Your child’s report is a reflection of the content that has been taught this semester. C - Sound Achievement is a sound knowledge and understanding. SOUND means the child has a competent understanding and has achieved at an appropriate level. Unfortunately, in years past a C grading was not what people aspired to and a C was considered quite average. Our achievement levels are very different and a C – Sound means your child is achieving where they should be at this point in time. B – High Achievement means your child is achieving at a higher level at this point in time. If you have any concerns, please come in and see me or make an appointment to see your child’s class teacher. Thank you! HAPPY HOLIDAYS – SEE YOU ALL ON TUESDAY 19th JULY. Please stay safe during our holiday period. Yours in education Leanne Wakefield Principal

Canberra – Stage 3

Some important documents will be sent home early next term outlining things to prepare for the forthcoming trip to

Canberra. One of these documents will be the mandatory medical form. This form must be returned in order for any student to participate in the excursion. Please also ensure that you are up-to-date with excursion payments. After school returns next term, there is only three weeks to complete final payments. All payments must be received no later than 5th August. As always, if there are any issues around excursion details or payments, please contact us.

Also, we have our Federal Election this Saturday July 2. Please consider taking your Year 5 or 6 child along with you to vote. This is a great learning opportunity to see our democratic processes and for them to see ballot papers and polling places in action. Real learning stuff! Shannon Crawford and Rod Maggs Year 6 Teachers Primary Winter Sport Rotations There will be no sport rotations on Friday due to NAIDOC celebrations here at school. We will resume with the same sports for the first two weeks in Term 3 before we change choices. Rod Maggs Assistant Principal Stage 3
