The Global Competency-Based Training Center (GCB) participated recently on the 2013 regional skills competition spearheaded by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Caraga in close cooperation with Caraga Association of Technical Vocational Institutions, Inc. (CATVII) and hosted by the city government of Cabadbaran held on

November 18-19, 2013 at Candelaria Institute of Cabadbaran (CIC), this City. Highlighted on the two-day activity were the motorcade and skills competition participated by different Technical Voca-tional Institutions (TVIs) in the region together with their coaches, experts, competitors, students, CATVII and TESDA officials and personnel. The seven skills/qualifications were featured in the competition were the Food and Beverage Ser-

vices, Commer-cial Cooking, IT/Software Appli-cation, Visual Graphics De-sign, Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, and Plumbing and Heating.

The GCB Training Center partners the local government units (LGUs) of Malimomo, Surigao del Norte and Jabonga, Agusan del Norte for the

Consumer Electronics Servicing (CES) training course as part of GCB’s Park and Train Program to community-based areas in providing technical

vocational trainings to qualified individuals.

Mayor Teodoro F. Sinaca, Jr. of Malimono agreed with

GCB to start the training to two areas at the town proper and at Barangay

Villariza on August 28 to November 23, 2013 that were

participated by 44 enrolled trainees from

the town center and 21 enrolled trainees from Villariza. The training culminated with

the national competency assessment conducted by TESDA-Surigao del

Norte last November 29-31, 2013.

Meanwhile,at Jabonga, the CES trainees were undergone Training Induc-

tion Program (TIP). Mayor Jasmin F. Monton of Jabonga arranged with GCB for the conduct of CES training that participated by about 50 trainees on the training sessions which started on October 28, 2013 and

expected to culminate on January 31, 2014.

GCB Center Director Grace Natad-Conde bared that the training partnership with the municipalities of

Malimono, Surigao del Norte and Jabonga, Agusan del Norte is another significant milestone of GCB’s Park and Train program.

Jabonga is 3rd class municipality of Augsan del Norte situated at the lakeshore area with the famous Lake Mainit. It has total land area of 29,300 hectares politically subdivide into 15 barangays with 23,833 population in 2010 . Malimono on the other hand is a 5th class municipality of Surigao del

Norte located at the seacoast of Mindanao Sea. It has a total area of 32,262 hectares composed of 14 barangays with 18,316 population in 2010 national census.

Some fourteen (14) trainees from Barangay Villariza, Malimono, Surigao del Norte have successfully passed the Consumer Electronics Servicing (CES) national competency recently conducted by TESDA on November 29, 2013 at Malimono’s Women’s Training Center, this municipality.

The 27 trainees who took the Consumer Electronics Servicing (CES) training course at Malimono recently passed the CES national competency assessment conducted by TESDA during its assessment held on November 30-31, 2013 at Women’s Training Center, Malimono, Surigao del Norte. Five got the CES National Certificate II while 22 got the Certificate of Competency.

The staff and trainers of GCB Training Center along with their families joined recently on the team-building tour to Surigao del Sur’s tourist destinations on December 21, 2013.

Led by Center Director Grace Natad-Conde, the team visited the Tinuy-an Falls in Bislig City and Hinatuan En-chanted River in Talisay, Hinatuan, Suri-gao del Sur. Highlighted on the tour were swimming, hiking, photographs taking, and enjoying camaraderie with co-employees of the Center while taking pleasure on the beauty of the nature.

The team-building tour is part of GCB’s well-planned activity for the fellowship strengthening and human resource development initiative for its staff and trainees.

The National Economic Development Author-

ity-Caraga (NEDA-13) donated two (2) units of

semi-serviceable computer laptops to GCB

Training Center for the computer skills devel-

opment of GCB student-trainees.

GCB requested NEDA-13 through request

letter dated May 24, 2013 asking any un-

used or unrepaired laptop computers that

are subject to be disposed as unserviceable

property and to be donated for educational

and scientific purposes especially for the en-

hancement of its Computer Hardware Servic-

ing (CHS) course.

The CHS is one of the training courses that

GCB has been offering now with numbers of

regular trainees and scholarship grantees. The core competency of CHS include on in-

stalling, diagnosing, configuring and main-

taining computer systems and networks us-

ing the desktop and laptop computers. Any
