What is the “”Job Market” and what is the “Right Talent”? Micro markets – Suzhou, China vs. Fargo, N.Dakota; Seoul vs. Changwon Functional versus General Global job market is an illusion (97% of all employees live within 7km of their place of work)

Shaped at any point in time by the availability, skills, ambitions of people In summary: job markets that are not static, not homogenous, not predictable Role Specifications; Person Specifications; Structured Interviews; Behavioural

Event interviews; psychometrics; background checks But….

- Dismissed or passed over in one business, yet successful in another? - Successful under one Boss, but a failure under another?

The independent variable is often “circumstances” and most definitely TIME Finding the “right talent” in your changing “job market” over time is essentially

a blind date

Alice in Wonderland

Cheshire Puss….would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?‘

'That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,‘ said the Cat.

'I don't much care where --' said Alice.

'Then it doesn't matter which way you go,' said the Cat.

The adaptive journey for the “right talent”

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. Robert Frost

If we start choosing the easy path, then our young ones will try to take only the easy paths. And they will soon become used to it. However, if we swim against waterfalls, Will we not pass on the pain and joy of the moment when we make the jump, To our offspring to be born later on?

Doehyon Ahn

What are the possible challenges for Korean talent in the Korea job market?

Hofstede and the Change Aversion puzzle “With a score of 85, South Korea is one of the most uncertainty avoiding countries in the world. Countries exhibiting high uncertainty avoidance maintain rigid codes of belief and behaviour and are intolerant of unorthodoxy. In these cultures there is an emotional need for rules (even if the rules never seem to work), time is money, people have an inner urge to be busy and work hard, precision and punctuality are the norm, innovation may be resisted, security is an important element in individual motivation.” 85점을 기록한 한국은 젂 세계에서 불확실성에 대한 저항이 가장 큰 국가 가운데 하나이다.
