How can we help the earth sustain our growing population?

Germany• Germany because of it’s very dense population needs to carefully consider

how they Interact with their environment thus necessity has driven them To develop conscientious and efficient systems.

Waste management

Three simple components to waste management: 1.Waist avoidance 2.Waste recycling and recovery 3.Environmentally compatible waste disposal

Waist avoidanceA. When shopping at the supermarket

bring their own bags because there is a charge for bags.

B. Only 1% of Germany’s waste goes into the landfill.

C. Treatment of organic waste Avoided 1.4 million tons of CO2 Emissions

D. In Germany the polluter or the corporation that pollutes must pay to recycle their waste products but in the United States the consumer pays through taxes. This motivates companies to produce less waste.

Waste recovery and recyclingA. Neighborhood recepticals for shoes,

clothes and scrap metals.

B. In 2012 the new Close Cycle Management Aact was passed. This bill Essentially turn waste management into resource management and waste into a source of Raw materials

Environmentally compatible wasteTreat Organic waste so that it can be used as fertilizer

Why is crude oil bad?• Toxins can attack your body in many ways at once especially children

and pregnant women.• Crude oil is a complex mixture of petrochemicals that are all in

Thousand barrels per day

Why is crude oil bad?

• A lot of those chemicals are neurotoxins which means they affect the brain.

• Dizziness, euphoria, nausea, blurry vision, and headaches are only a few of the short-term effects of such compounds as benzene, toluene, and xylenes.

• There are long term health dangers as well. Benzene, in particular has been tied to adult leukemia and other cancers

Transportation

Public Transportation Info

• Road network(roads of other thanlocal transport, km) 230,702

• Railway lines (Length of lines operated, km) 37,877

• Number of traffic accident fatalities down 15% in August 2014• Boom in regular long-distance bus services in 2013: number

of passengers up from 3 to 8 million

Modal split of inland passenger transport, 2002 and 2012 (% of total inland passenger-km)

Rail passenger transport, 2010–12

Top 15 airports, passengers carried (embarked and disembarked), 2012 (million passengers)

Predictions

• Germany has set a goal to have zero Waste in the year 2020 This seems conceivable Based on data and how it correlates to the decrease in population.

• I predict that the oil production will decrease slowly over the next 20 years as the human population will decrease slowly as well.

How can we Help the world sustain our growing population?

• Reduce waste increased recycling And make waste Compatible with the Environment.

• Reduce reliance on crude oil.• Increased use of public transportation.
