thAt a glittering ceremony under golden-hued chandeliers, the new team of officers of Rotary Mysore 2013 led by its 59 thPresident M.C.S. Manohara was installed last Thursday, the 4 of July 2013 at Hotel Pai Vista. PDG R. Guru installed

the new team. District Governor S. Gururaj was honoured on the occasion along with the first lady Smt. Pushpalatha. Asst. Governor Dr. M.N.Bheemesh was also on the dais. A galaxy of PDGs, PPs, Rotarians of other clubs of Mysore, guests, Anns and Annettes numbering nearly 200 were present.

The program got off to a solemn start with girls from the Ranga Rao Memorial School for Disabled singing the invocation song. Hon. Secretary 2012-13 H.S.Venkatesh read out a brief report of the successful year. The outgoing President Anantharaj Urs emotionally recalled how every Rotarian had stood by him in his Presidential year.

After an apt introduction by Rtn. S.K.Sanjay, PDG R. Guru installed all the new officers. In his keynote address, PDG Guru exhorted

every member to live up to the theme “Engage Rotary Change Lives” by engaging Rotary through different aspects – monetary, service, time and networking. Lives can be transformed when one acts with compassion. He provided numerous examples of a number of our Rotarians doing the same. In his acceptance speech, incoming President Manohara assured us that the coming year will be service-oriented yet fun-filled and hence a memorable one. PDG Lakshminarayan introduced DG Gururaj saying that both of them had

entered Rotary on the same day. Even as PDG Vasudevamurthy honoured him on behalf of Rotary Mysore, DG Gururaj said that he was proud to be a member of Rotary Mysore and called the District officers on to the dais.

A number of projects were launched on the occasion. Club Service Director Rtn. Manjesh Kumar and Rtn. Dinesh S.K. launched the Royal Riders, a fellowship group of motorbike riders of Rotary Mysore with the objectives of service, fellowship and lifestyle. Community S e r v i c e D i r e c t o r R t n . C h e t a n Vishwanath and Rtn. Ajay Singh launched our association with Pratham to provide quality Primary Education at Chikkegowdanakoppal village, with a cheque for Rs. 20,000/=. Our flagship project Taare Zameen Par was handed over a cheque for Rs. 1,65,000/= that was r e c e i v e d b y C h a i r m a n P P B.S.Ravikumar, Rtn. Sunil Kumar and Rtn. Kaleem Mohd. International Service Director Rtn. Monica Sathish

started off with a bang even as Rtn. Chetan Vishwanath and Annette Akanksha Manohara had their PHF announcements. Youth Service Director Rtn. Arvind Singavi opened with Vaadya Lahari fest in association with Vijaya Vittala Vidyashala along with a cheque of Rs.10,000/. Vocational Service Director Rtn. T.V.Gopinath launched 4-way test diaries and also planned a farmers' visit to Singapore and Malaysia. Chamundi with her new design and looks in tune with the young and energetic team was launched by AG Dr. Bheemesh along with Editor Rtn. Arun B.R.

The RI Presidential citation was a wa r d e d t o o u t g o i n g P r e s i d e n t Anantharaj Urs by DG S. Gururaj. Rtn. C. Ravi provided the concluding remarks and vote of thanks. Dinner and cocktails were hosted by Rtn. PHF Anantharaj Urs and Ann Sadhvi Devi. Very many thanks to the generous hosts. The night was still young as the music and cocktails flowed.

Welcome aboardDr. (Mrs.) Anjali Arun was inducted into Rotary Mysore as its newest member, and Rajendra M. and Manjunath G. were welcomed back into the Rotary fold by DG Gururaj. Dr. Anjali is Chief of Lab & Transfusion Services at Vikram Hospital and an alumnus of the National Law School of India. She is the wife of noted cardiologist Dr. Arun Srinivas. The couple has a daughter Ashwini studying Law.
