We would like to make note of the fact that we believe Giant needs to become an Employer of Choice for both
associates and salaried managers; however, the focus of our presentation is on the salaried manager positions.

Giant by the Numbers• Annually, Giant-C invests about $6 million into training• Annual costs of salaried manager training (about 150
trainees per year)• Average of 10 weeks per trainee• Average of $15,000 per trainee• Total cost is $2.2 million per year
• 10% turnover for salaried positions• $1,500,000 annual costs caused by turnover
• This is based on 5 managers per store in 200 stores

U-Scan• On a fully loaded cost basis, the net bottom line impact of
the program is break-even• In all other Ahold stores, (besides GC) this expectation has been
exceeded.
