Getting active locally in 2015• The SDGs are the successor framework to the Millennium Development
Goals (MDGs) and will direct international development focus and funds for the next 15-20 years. It is critical that the new framework is bold and effective and addresses the issues that cause inequality and poverty. The difference now is that the new framework will also address the issues of climate change and sustainable development.
• All UN Member States will agree the new SDGs; they will present the final
agreed SDG framework at the UN General Assembly meeting in September 2015.This single set of goals and targets will apply to all countries, not just developing countries as the MDGs do. The new SDGs will be agreed through a series of negotiations between UN Member States.
• In December 2015 a second Summit will set new targets on climate change.

Who is action/2015?
The action/2015 campaign is made up of lots of organisations and charities with local supporters. Acting together on your shared concerns gives you more organising power throughout the year and more impact on local politicians. Some of the organisations making up action/2015 in the UK are listed at www.bond.org.uk/advocacy/action-2015

How can I get involved?
Campaign activities may include; • Writing to your MP• Arranging a meeting with newly elected MP• Continue to meet with other campaigners and
strengthen your local movement building. • Consider planning a local event, media stunt or
exhibition to promote international development in the run-up to the UN General Assembly in September.
