Dec 6th, 2019 GENERAL MANAGER’S REPORT - Rob McPake Greengs for the fesve season members; let’s embrace the spirit of good will and happy dings. We have a plethora of pleasantries in store for you all during December, commencing with our Club Bondi Juncon Ham Bonanza 2019. There is a complimentary draw each week day, Monday to Friday, from the 1 st to the 20 th December inclusive. You must be on the premises each evening, excepng Tuesday, to be eligible to win. Members simply need to swipe their membership cards at the Turbo terminal in the recepon area and place their entry cket in the barrel located within the vicinity for their lucky chance to win. Our weekly raffle promoons, as well as the exisng selecon of quality meats, poultry, prawns and cash prizes, will feature bonus hams: six (6) on Thursdays; eight (8) on Fridays; and eight (8) on Sundays, commencing from Sunday, 1 st December and concluding on Sunday, 22 nd December 2019. Our Monster Christmas raffle, scheduled for later in the month, will contain a choice selecon of meats, hams, hampers and cash to a whopping total of fiſty five (55) prizes. Sunday Funday, a relaxing aſternoon of games and acvies, including darts, snooker, indoor bowls and ping pong, is scheduled this coming Sunday, 8 th December 2019 in our Sports room from 12:00 midday to 3:00 pm. All members are eligible and urged to aend, receiving a complimentary BBQ lunch and delicacies as a reward for your parcipaon and camaraderie. See recepon staff to register for an invigorang aſternoon of sports acvity; a few social bevies; and some healthy recreaonal fun. Lest we not forget, the quarterly Xmas meeng of the Sub Branch will be held on Sunday, 15 th December 2019 in the Club Auditorium at 11:00am sharp. All members are urged to aend this meeng, numbers having sadly fallen to just over two hundred (200). Lunch and complimentary drinks will be provided aſter the closure of the meeng. Please aend and show your support. As most members will be aware, membership renewals for 2020 were bulk mailed last week, somewhat later than in previous years. The temporary delay stemmed from the requirement of the Board of Management to assess future budgetary income and expenditure projecons in deciding a raonal course of acon pertaining to connued trading, as well as the dilemma over the payment of capitaon fees for RSL service members. These immediate issues have now been resolved and it is pleasing to see the loyalty of our members with somewhere in the vicinity of four hundred (400) renewing over the course of the last four (4) days. This is the spirit we require to sustain; please keep it up! The Club’s Development Applicaon (DA) was finally, aſter what seems like an eternity, approved in late November 2019 which means, inevitably, the Club must cease trading at some stage during the course of 2020 to enable clearance of the site prior to demolion and reconstrucon. Alas, confusion is abounding about the status of 2020 membership renewals?? To sum the maer up simply, once the Club ceases trading during 2020, all financial members will be issued with an interim membership card which will ensure connuity of your membership during the transional development phase unl the reopening of the newly constructed Club, speculated to be late 2022. The administraon cost of transional membership cards, mandatory under law, will be funded exclusively by your Club. The interim membership card will contain the Club’s exclusive brand; all financial members will be eligible to receive correspondence; and there will be a Biennial Annual General Meeng (AGM) held in 2021 and an AGM the subsequent year. The bricks and mortar will be raised to the ground. However, the connuity of membership of all financial members will be secure throughout the transional period. I commend the efforts of the Development Group Commiee (DGA), consisng of delegates Bill Harrigan and Craig Cunningham; the management team from development partner, Capital Bluestone; and valued input from former Director, Jason Perica, in aaining DA approval. Although I serve in an observaon role, I am acutely aware of the me and effort expended; the intense thought processes entailed in aainment. In parcular, your Club President, Bill Harrigan, has spent over fiſteen (15) years in pursuing these development objecves, commencing with the rezoning of the property well over a decade ago to our current status. Obstacles have presented me and me again and have been met, me and again, with paence and perseverance akin to the Dali Lama, never relinquishing in the quest to succeed. With these thoughts in mind, I empathise with all the members who will be affected through the transion. Having closed Clovelly RSL & Air Force Club in December 2012, I am well aware of the despair and loss many will feel. However, this is the viable opon which must be taken and, in contrast to the situaon at Clovelly, a new and compeve Club house will be erected in the near future, ensuring the Club’s viability for years to come. Make sure to renew your membership; we are sll here, at the Club We All Love-Club Bondi Juncon!!!

GENERAL MANAGER’S REPORT - Rob McPake

Greetings for the festive season members; let’s embrace the spirit of good will and happy tidings. We

have a plethora of pleasantries in store for you all during December, commencing with our Club Bondi

Junction Ham Bonanza 2019. There is a complimentary draw each week day, Monday to Friday, from

the 1st to the 20th December inclusive. You must be on the premises each evening, excepting Tuesday,

to be eligible to win. Members simply need to swipe their membership cards at the Turbo terminal in the

reception area and place their entry ticket in the barrel located within the vicinity for their lucky chance to win. Our

weekly raffle promotions, as well as the existing selection of quality meats, poultry, prawns and cash prizes, will feature

bonus hams: six (6) on Thursdays; eight (8) on Fridays; and eight (8) on Sundays, commencing from Sunday, 1st

December and concluding on Sunday, 22nd December 2019. Our Monster Christmas raffle, scheduled for later in the

month, will contain a choice selection of meats, hams, hampers and cash to a whopping total of fifty five (55) prizes.

Sunday Funday, a relaxing afternoon of games and activities, including darts, snooker, indoor bowls and ping pong, is

scheduled this coming Sunday, 8th December 2019 in our Sports room from 12:00 midday to 3:00 pm. All members are

eligible and urged to attend, receiving a complimentary BBQ lunch and delicacies as a reward for your participation and

camaraderie. See reception staff to register for an invigorating afternoon of sports activity; a few social bevies; and some

healthy recreational fun. Lest we not forget, the quarterly Xmas meeting of the Sub Branch will be held on Sunday, 15th

December 2019 in the Club Auditorium at 11:00am sharp. All members are urged to attend this meeting, numbers

having sadly fallen to just over two hundred (200). Lunch and complimentary drinks will be provided after the closure of

the meeting. Please attend and show your support.

As most members will be aware, membership renewals for 2020 were bulk mailed last week, somewhat later

than in previous years. The temporary delay stemmed from the requirement of the Board of Management to assess

future budgetary income and expenditure projections in deciding a rational course of action pertaining to continued

trading, as well as the dilemma over the payment of capitation fees for RSL service members. These immediate issues

have now been resolved and it is pleasing to see the loyalty of our members with somewhere in the vicinity of four

hundred (400) renewing over the course of the last four (4) days. This is the spirit we require to sustain; please keep it

up! The Club’s Development Application (DA) was finally, after what seems like an eternity, approved in late November

2019 which means, inevitably, the Club must cease trading at some stage during the course of 2020 to enable clearance

of the site prior to demolition and reconstruction. Alas, confusion is abounding about the status of 2020 membership

renewals?? To sum the matter up simply, once the Club ceases trading during 2020, all financial members will be issued

with an interim membership card which will ensure continuity of your membership during the transitional

development phase until the reopening of the newly constructed Club, speculated to be late 2022. The administration

cost of transitional membership cards, mandatory under law, will be funded exclusively by your Club. The interim

membership card will contain the Club’s exclusive brand; all financial members will be eligible to receive

correspondence; and there will be a Biennial Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in 2021 and an AGM the subsequent

year. The bricks and mortar will be raised to the ground. However, the continuity of membership of all financial

members will be secure throughout the transitional period.

I commend the efforts of the Development Group Committee (DGA), consisting of delegates Bill Harrigan and Craig Cunningham; the management team from development partner, Capital Bluestone; and valued input from former Director, Jason Perica, in attaining DA approval. Although I serve in an observation role, I am acutely aware of the time and effort expended; the intense thought processes entailed in attainment. In particular, your Club President, Bill Harrigan, has spent over fifteen (15) years in pursuing these development objectives, commencing with the rezoning of the property well over a decade ago to our current status. Obstacles have presented time and time again and have been met, time and again, with patience and perseverance akin to the Dali Lama, never relinquishing in the quest to succeed. With these thoughts in mind, I empathise with all the members who will be affected through the transition. Having closed Clovelly RSL & Air Force Club in December 2012, I am well aware of the despair and loss many will feel. However, this is the viable option which must be taken and, in contrast to the situation at Clovelly, a new and competitive Club house will be erected in the near future, ensuring the Club’s viability for years to come.

Make sure to renew your membership; we are still here, at the Club We All Love-Club Bondi Junction!!!

PRESIDENT’S REPORT - Bill Harrigan Hello Members; We are fast approaching Xmas and the half hams are back in our raffles. The RSL are backing down for one year and are not forcing members to pay the members fee of $35 (for one year at

least). The Club has had the DA passed and signed off. My wife Joy and I just spent a most enjoyable week at Tuncurry relaxing after all the pressures of getting the DA through and now we are back fresh for the Xmas functions etc. While we were away we ventured up to Laurieton via my brother Graham’s property near Johns River. I have included a photo showing the sheer devastation around his farm. The fires completely destroyed forests of eucalypts along the highway between Tuncurry and Moreland and across to the Diamond Head beach and through to Laurieton.

Next week we have our December Board meeting on Tuesday commencing at 5.00pm and prior to it we should get a brief report from Capital Bluestone. It seems, subject to sales, the demolition of our club will not occur until late next year. PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP,

TO RETAIN ITS CONTINUITY, AND REMEMBER THE BOARDS DECISION TO PAY YOUR FEES TO CONTINUE

ACROSS THE ROAD AT EASTS UNTIL WE RE-OPEN. See you in our Club.

SYDNEY DARTS “HAMMERTIME” REPORT

Andy “The Hammer” Hamilton, world class darty was in CBJ last Friday to take on a number of Sydney’s best, and what a night it was. Vice President Kevin, put his hand up to take on the Hammer and proved no match to him, but good on Kevin for having a go. The numbers attending wasn’t has high as anticipated, but the club made a few bucks. Big thanks to Rob and staff for setting up and serving on the night and to CBJ members for attending. We also raised and donated $300 which has been sent to the bushfire appeal, this is the idea of Kevin’s, well done. Over the past two years, darts has been good to the club and if fun accounts for anything, it is a real winner. Don’t forget our fabulous and FREE, FUNDAY SUNDAY, this Sunday 8th December. Names to reception and feel free to bring friends with you. Only one rule applies, seriousness will not be tolerated. Have a good week. Tony “TOC” O’Connor

SUB-BRANCH REPORT - Sue Welman (Secretary)

Hello members, To our surprise, at the last minute before we sent out our membership renewal notices, we received a communique from State Branch that we were allowed to subsidise service member

fees for this year only. Having already printed our Quarterly Newsletter, we then had to attach a notice to inform you of this. Please renew your Club membership card at reception as per normal. Note: There are no RSL cards this year, but a new RSL card will be issued mid next year from State Branch. Please keep your current RSL card until we hear more from State Branch. My thanks to Barbara Urquhart for helping with the sub-Branch mailouts. Our Vice President Kevin Hagan and Committee member Dave Jeffrey attended the Australian Air League Riverwood Squadron Christmas lunch and received a Certificate of Appreciation for our support. On Friday Bill, David and myself will attend the EthInvest RSL Christmas Luncheon, even though a year down the track, we are still waiting for State Branch to confirm the third Trustee before we can invest our money. This time last year I was in hospital and I fill sorry for those that suffer with lung disorders with all the smoke that surrounds us. New SOP’s come into effect on December 1st. Certificates of Participation for sub-Branch executives and trustees who attended the Governance training sessions have been sent to us. Looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday 15th December at 11am in the Auditorium for our sub-Branch Quarterly Meeting.
