How Do Video Conferencing Systems “Talk” to Each Other?
• Systems within Pasadena ISD connect to each other using the Local Area Network.
• Our Video Conferencing Systems connect to our network via a standard network drop.
9
How Do Video Conferencing Systems “Talk” to Each Other?
• Once Connected to the Local Area Network, Video Conferencing systems in PISD are able to talk to a special piece of equipment called a Video Conferencing Bridge.
• The Bridge allows multiple sites to connect together.
10
How Do Video Conferencing Systems “Talk” to the Outside World?• The Video Conferencing Bridge
has a high speed phone line that is able to “dial out” to video conferencing systems throughout the world.
11
How Do Video Conferencing Systems “Talk” to the Outside World?• The Video Conferencing Bridge
also has a dedicated connection to Region IV ESC.
• This enables us to:• Participate in staff development
opportunities.• Attend State-wide meetings
without having to travel outside the district.

I have just registered one of my high school Spanish teachers for Read Across America, March 1 - 3, 2005 via videoconference through the TWICE organization. However, the registration form does not allow the registrant to make any special requests. Instead, it suggests that this listserv might be one of the useful channels for those requests. Therefore, I would like to request contact by any teachers of Spanish, French, or Latin who would like to partner with my teachers for a bilingual Read Across America connection. My foreign language teachers are willing to partner with other foreign language teachers on the Elementary, Middle, or High School levels. If you are interested in a bilingual connection, please email me information on the language you teach, school name, address, phone number, grade level of your students, date (s) and time (s) your class will be available to videoconference, technology used for videoconferencing, technology contact person, technology contact's email address and phone number.
