Music at Christ Church 2019–2020

As we begin another program year, I am excited to share with you this listing of choral music offerings at Christ Church.

The repertoire ranges from Renaissance motets to anthems composed within the last year. This past summer, many music directors at a conference I attended were encouraged to intentionally program more music by women composers, and I am eager to do my part to increase their presence in our parish music library. You will see some familiar and unfamiliar names, but I believe it is all music of high quality worthy of our corporate worship. The biggest change this year will be the removal of our current organ in January of 2020. Contractors will need several months to prepare our building for the arrival of the new Harrison & Harrison pipe organ in November of 2020. So, after Christmas, we will be expanding our repertoire of a cappella anthems as well as music best suited to piano accompaniment. I am excited about this opportunity. I send my sincere thanks to all of you who have generously donated to the Friends of Music fund in the past. Your help enables us to go above and beyond what is possible within the normal operating budget of the parish, increasing both the quantity and quality of music we are able to present. I invite you to consider supporting this

fund once again, and also to attend as many of our services as possible – and please be sure to bring along a friend with you as we “worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.”

Jason Abel, Director of Music
