GDI printer HP1020 1022 with DPR-1260 setup procedure Noticed: HP 1020/ 1022 belong to GDI(Host-based) printer, GDI is a printer that has built-in support for Windows Graphical Device Interface (GDI). GDI is used by most Windows applications to display images on a monitor, so when printing from a Windows application to a GDI printer, there is no need to convert the output to another format such as PostScript or PCL. GDI printers are sometimes called host-based printers because they rely on the host computer to rasterize pages. Owing to the above specific protocol mentioned and functionality with our printer server, DPR-1260 will detect GDI printers(HP 1020/ 1022) and status will show the offline when printers has connected in. Follow up following setup procedure: 1. download driver HP 1020/ 1022 from HP web site and execute the driver program.
2. double click the EZInstall to install printer driver on PC or Laptop, and then connect HP 1020/ 1022(USB) to PC or Laptop directly.
3. PC or Laptop detect hardware.
4. Set the HP LaserJet 1020/ 1022 as default printer.
5. After finished driver installation, change HP 1020/ 1022(USB) to DPR-1260, PC or Laptop Ethernet cable connect to DPR-1260. 6. Follow up the user manual to enable PC or Laptop UPnP, then go into device web configuration, to set device IP with static IP 192.168.0.10
7. Manual the PC or Laptop IP as 192.168.0.X network.
8. Re-login to DPR-1260 to check the information.
9. Remember the LPR Queue Name is HPLaserJet1022.
10. Go into OS. Printer properties.
11. Add printer port as TCP/IP prot.
12. Enter the DPR-1260’s IP and port name.
13. Be sure to the LPR setting/ Queue Name is HPLaserJet1022
14. From the O.S printer properties, choice the HPLaserJet1022 Standard TCP/IP Port and Apply.
15. Use printer online.
16. Print test page.
