CYGNUS UPDATE: SUCCESSFUL 2014 INSTALLATION CAMPAIGN WITH NO DOWNTIME
17 -
Three of the four jackets - Utilities and Quarters (UQ), Processing Unit (PU) and Alpha
Wellhead (AWH) - safely loaded out from Bifab’s yard in Methil, Scotland, and successfully
installed offshore.
Installation was undertaken by the Seaway Heavy Lifting vessel, the Stanislav Yudin, over
two campaigns. During the first campaign, the AWH deck was loaded out by Heerema and
successfully installed onto the new jacket.
A high level of subsea activity following the installation of the Subsea Isolation Valve (SSIV)
and Wye manifold structures - also installed by the Stanislav Yudin.
Saipem installed the 24-inch export pipeline as well as the 12-inch infield production line.
Subsea isolation pig successfully recovered, first time for GDF SUEZ
Diving works commenced with the Diving Support Vessel (DSV) Harkand Da Vinci followed
by a successful tie-in at the Perenco owned Trent platform using successful isolation and
leak test tools; isolating 165km of the 24” ETS gas pipeline at 70bar pressure, removing one
of the project’s high risk items.
The Ensco 80 jack-up rig now over the AWH and drilling activities have started.
The remaining three topsides, including Cygnus Bravo, will be installed in 2015.
