Saturday September 5, 2015 7 STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar today organized a function to celebrate Teachers' Day and pay glowing tributes to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan for rendering commendable services to the teaching profession. Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Divisional Commissioner Jammu was the Chief Guest, while I D Soni, State Commissioner, J&K Scouts and Guides was the Special Guest. Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal, GCW, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, Anil Kumar Gupta, Chairman, J&K State Integration and Public Relation Society and Deepak Aggarwal, Chairman Pahal a social organization were also present. Principal of the College welcomed the Chief Guest and other invitees and highlighted the role of teachers in molding the destiny of students and imparting wisdom and learning to the future gen- eration. Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal spoke on the significance of teachers in everyone's life who acts as a guide and shows the path towards success and enriches the personality of their disci- ples by imparting ethical and academic knowledge. Dr Kotwal termed teach- ers as selfless givers and mentors. He said that this day should be celebrated as a festival to mark the unparallel contribution made by teachers in the life of a student. On the occa- sion, the State Integration and Public Relation Society also honored some school teachers for render- ing great service. The teachers honored included Mrs. Kanchan Sharma, Onkar Sharma, Harbans Singh, Kuldeep Singh Langeh and Sukhdev Mishra. The students presented a scintillating cultural pro- gramme to celebrate the day. They expressed grat- itude to their teachers for the guidance. Hostel stu- dents also celebrated Janamashtami in advance by presenting a beautiful Radha Krishna dance.
