5. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:i) The final list of centres will be announced tocandidates through the website www.gitam.edu.GITAM reserves the right to cancel any test centreand in such a case, candidates allotted to thesecentres will be accommodated in alternate testcentres.

ii) Candidates will be informed that depending onthe administrative convenience, tests may beconducted for a limited number of days in someof the centres. The final list of test centres, venuesand days of test will be announced only after allthe applications are received and candidates willbe informed of the same through GITAM websiteto enable the candidates to choose their centre,date and time for the test as per their convenienceand availability of slots in any of the aforesaidcentres. Candidates should indicate 3 differenttest centres, in order of preference, in theapplication for consideration by GITAM.

General Information

iii) The candidate has to register his/her name atthe registration counter in the test centre.The e-hall tickets of the candidates will beverified by the proctor to confirm eachcandidate’s identity. The candidate has toproduce any one of the following for personalidentification: Passport / Driving License / ECvoter ID card / IT PAN card / School or Collegephoto bearing ID card / Aadhar Card. Eachcandidate will be given a seat with a computer.Candidate must take the allotted seat at least15 minutes before the test commences.

iv) Candidates will not be allowed to carry anytextual material, printed or written, bits ofpapers or any other material except the e-hallticket into the test hall. Candidates are alsonot permitted to bring calculators, slide rules,Clark tables and electronic watches withfacilities of calculators, laptop or palmtopcomputers, personal stereo systems, walkie-talkie sets, mobile phones, paging devices orany other object/device that is likely to be ofunfair assistance.

v) No candidate will be allowed to go outside thetest hall till the completion of the entire durationof the test. Once a candidate leaves the testhall, he/she will not be permitted to re-enter into the test hall under any circumstances.

vi) Smoking is strictly prohibited. Tea, coffee, softdrinks / snacks are not allowed into the testhall. There are no waiting facilities for familyand friends at the test centre.

vii) Candidates should maintain perfect silence.All actions of the candidate in the test hall willbe closely monitored using web cam andclosed circuit cameras. Any conversation orgesticulation or disturbance in the test hall shallbe deemed as misbehaviour and if anycandidate is found using unfair means orimpersonation, his/her candidature will becancelled and they will be liable to be debarredfrom taking examination either permanently orfor a specified period, as decided by theInstitution. GITAM reserves the right towithhold the result of such candidates.

viii) Candidates must sign the attendance sheetin the presence of the invigilator. The candidatemust obey the rules of the test centres,otherwise he / she will be automaticallydebarred from the test.

ix) In rare and unlikely event of a technical failureduring the test, the candidate may be requiredto take the test again.

6. About GAT - 2018 i) Candidates should arrive at the test centre one

hour before the scheduled time. There will bean on-site orientation before the testcommences. If a candidate arrives after theon- site orientation begins, he/she will not beallowed to take the test. If candidates do notreport on time, they are likely to miss some ofthe general instructions relating to the test.The test hall will be opened 30 minutes beforethe commencement of the test.

ii) The candidate is expected to have basicfamiliarity with use of computer like use ofkeyboard and mouse operation. It is theresponsibility of the candidate to acquire theseskills before appearing for the test and theInstitution cannot take any responsibility inthis matter.

iii) The questions are generated from a largequestion bank and all the candidates will getdifferent question sets. An expert committeewill ensure that the question sets are ofequal standard level, content, question type,etc. In this matter, the decision of theInstitution is final and binding on the candidate.

iv) The candidate must ensure that the computerallotted to him/her is switched on and anyproblem with the computer is to be intimatedto the Proctor immediately. All the questionswill be in English medium only. All thequestions will be of multiple choice.

v) Each question carries 4 marks. Each correctanswer will be awarded 4 marks and 1 markwill be deducted from the score for each wronganswer. The unanswered questions willreceive nil marks.

vi) On completion of the test, the computer willdisplay the result in terms of number of totalcorrect answers and wrong answers and thenet score.

vii) No student will be allowed to repeat the testin the same year.

viii) The method adopted for resolving ties shall bein the order of scores in mathematics / biology,physics, chemistry and age of the candidate.

ix) The ranks secured by the candidates will beannounced within 10 days from the date ofcompletion of GAT - 2018.

7. Merit List for Admissionsi) The merit position of the candidate foradmission will be based on the rank obtainedin the GAT - 2018 subject to the rule ofreservation as per UGC guidelines / norms asapplicable to GITAM. A candidate qualified inGAT - 2018 will be eligible for admission onlyif he / she fulfils the requirement of minimummarks in the qualifying examination as per theeligibility criteria.

ii) 25% of seats are reserved for meritoriousstudents from Karnataka State for admissionat Bengaluru Campus.

8. Direct Admission to Board ToppersFirst rank holders of the central and all stateboard examinations - 2018, equivalent to 10+2will be given admission to the program of theirchoice, without appearing for the GAT-2018subject to their fulfilling the prescribedeligibility criteria mentioned above. Howeverthey have to submit an application seekingadmission to engineering, architecture andpharmacy programs.

9. Special Provision for FemaleCandidatesGAT-2018 registration fee for female candidatesis ` 600/- only. Further, GITAM will try itsbest to accommodate all female candidatesat the test centre of their first preference.

10. Financial AssistanceGITAM offers financial assistance to thedeserving meritorious candidates as detailedbelow:

i) Merit Scholarships will be offered by way oftuition fee waiver for top 100 rankers ofGAT (UGTP)- 2018.
