ANALYSIS CONTROL ELEMENT (ACE)
ASPS CM &D OPSEC EW CIAS
ACECorps
or Division
Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course
• Collection Management and Dissemination (CM&D)• All Source Production Section (ASPS)• Electronic Warfare section (EW)• Counter-Intelligence and Analysis Section (CIAS)• Operational Security Section (OPSEC)
ACE ORGANIZATION
Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course
COLLECTION MANAGEMENTAND DISSEMINATION (CM&D)
• Identifies what information must be collected and who collects it.• Provides timely and efficient tasking.• Answers the commanders PIR.
Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course
ALL SOURCE PRODUCTION SECTION (ASPS)
• Performs Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (IPB)• Works with CM&D to develop SIRS and SORS.• Assists the G2 in developing the Intel Estimate Develops situation and targeting data• Provides demographics/area studies for Mission planning folders
Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course
ELECTRONIC WARFARE(EW)
• Recommends and explains how to use EW to support the division• Maintains a database of threat EW emitters• SIGINT processing and reporting• Primary SIGINT node at division Receives, processes and forwards SIGINT through the CM&D to ASPS and higher
Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course
COUNTERINTELLIGENCEANALYSIS SECTION (CIAS)
• Develops CI requirements• Co-located with the asps• CM&D tasks CI assets
Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course
OPERATIONS/OPSEC
• Works with G2• Performs OPSEC management functions• Implements commander’s OPSEC program OPSEC is EVERYONE’S responsibility
Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course
INTELLIGENCEREQUIREMENT (IR)
• Requirement for intelligence to fill a gap in the commanders knowledge and understanding of the situation• Reduce uncertainties on the battlefield• Two categories:
- PIR - Priority Intelligence Requirement- IR - Intelligence Requirement
Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course
PRIORITY INTELLIGENCEREQUIREMENT (PIR)
• Associated with a decision that will affect the overall success of the command’s mission• Only the commander designates• G2 recommends• PIR is usually in the form of a question• Information is needed to answer the PIR
Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course
EXAMPLE PIR
Will the 3rd Tank Division enter NAI 8 orNAI 9 NLT 291900lOCT00?
“Who, what, when and where”
Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course
SPECIFIC INFORMATIONREQUIREMENT (SIR)
• Information required to answer all or part Of a PIR/IR• Describes the information required, the location and time during which it can be Collected• Each IR/PIR usually generates sets of SIRS
Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course
EXAMPLE SIRs
Will more than 17 BRDM-2s subordinateto the 3rd Tank Division or its regimentspass through NAI 8 between 011000l-030400l?
Will more than 38 artillery weaponssubordinate to the 3rd Tank Divisionenter NAI 8 or NAI 9 between 011000l-020300l?
Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course
SPECIFIC ORDER ORREQUEST (SOR)
• Any order or request that generates planning and execution of a collection mission or analysis• SORS sent to subordinate units are orders• SORS sent to other commands are requests• Developed from detailed SIRS• Usually formed in SOR sets to answer one SOR
Reconnaissance and Surveillance Leaders Course
EXAMPLE SORsSOR 1a. Report the presence of BRDMreconnaissance vehicles in NAI 8 orNAI 9 between 011000l-020300l (LTIOV:021000l).
SOR 1b. Report the presence of communications nodes associatedwith recon elements of the 3rd TankDiv in NAI 8 between 011000l-020300l (LTIOV: 021000l).
