Visual Arts
The Grade 2 students wil l develop their painting skills following the style of Friedensreich Hundertwasser. The artist
Hundertwasser was famous for his painting techniques of creating vibrant colour combinations, patterns and textures in hisartwork. The students will learn how to do his painting techniques independently and then will apply them together tocreate their painting.
G2 UNIT OVERVIEW
Music
Now that the Orff instruments have arrived (xylophones, glockenspiels and metallophones), the grade two students will
begin to experience the ability to play in their own child-sized orchestra. A variety of note values will also be explored,
including quarter notes, half notes, and eighth notes. Students will begin to be able to recognize traditional notation for
these notes and their accompanying rests, and be able to play them using body percussion and on the instruments. As the
Christmas season approaches, a variety of traditional songs will be sung as well. I would also encourage any Grade 2
students who wish to join the choir to sign up for the next EX session. Only 15 new students from grades 2 and 3 will be
able to join.
PE
This is beginning of the Term Two and for the first four weeks, ES students will be involved in different Sports units. Grade 2
students will have swimming lessons to develop their knowledge, swim strokes and water safety in the week A ONLY until
December.
In Week B they will have regular PE class. "In Week B the students will finish their soccer unit and will begin a new gamesunit on volleyball. In these two games units ES students will develop their skills, game strategies and knowledge.
Chinese Language Focus:
Chinese will focus on acting a story, FINDING PANDA IN THE COMMUNITY. Through the suspense story, the studentswill know many interconnected services designed to meet peoples needs in the community and associate their real life.
