about us

F + A2

FUSTER + Architects is an internationally published and award winning firm located in San Juan, Puerto Rico that specializes in the design of contemporary, modern and sustainable projects that sensibly respond to the environment. An emphasis on the manipulation of the relationship between interior and exterior spaces and a special interest in the handling of natural lighting and the exploration of the plastic qualities of materials are characteristic of our office. The sustainable aspects of our projects are holistic and integral parts of every design.

We believe that modern architecture, in its most radical expression, is authentically tropical.

The principal of the firm is the architect Nataniel Fúster DDes, AIA, whose work has been awarded on multiple occasions and reviewed by international publications such as Architectural Record, Architectural Review, Wallpaper, Dwell, The Phaidon Atlas of 21st Century Architecture and The New York Times. Fúster has a Master Degree in Architecture from the University of Puerto Rico, a Master degree in Urban Design and a Doctor of Design degree from Harvard University.

Award winning architecture and a low environmental impact philosophy make for a hotel that is part sculpture and part contemporary tropical oasis

With just 22 LEED certified rooms, and a free flowing bar and restaurant space, El Blok’s strikingly modern aesthetic, pared down simplicity, uncompromising comfort, and contemporary Puerto Rican atmosphere make it a very personal Caribbean find. ”
