WE DID GOOD, BUT WE CAN DO BETTER!
Fund Comparison
Accomplishments● Successful end of year campaign● Giving TrailsDay (12/3/19) promoted and successful● Solicited, received and highlighted videos/stories/pictures from our members for impact stories - This is ongoing - so
KEEP ‘EM COMIN’!● Chair letters successful● E-mail blasts created and disseminated, keeping our members informed● Google calendar created specific for fundraising posts and tasks● Regularly scheduled monthly fundraising committee calls● Corporate sponsor solicitations went out to about 100 recipients via e-mail specific for Education Comm● Created detailed communication plan● Updated online FR folder - catalogued correspondence, plans, etc., for ease of future volunteers
See details on next couple slides and what we learned
Accomplishment: What we learned:Fall Letter expanded to entire membership Good response - largest source of donated
funds for BCHA - Higher than budgeted, largely due (I think) to constant comm withmembers
Folks like to read about us; keep it up, eithere-blasts, print or social media
Did work on failed monthly transactions;some success; really need to market monthly giving
Thanks to Steve and his crew for this support
100 letters went out, specifically targetingfunds for Education Committee; no bites.Need more personal, consistent contact, not just mass mailings - will take time (years) to develop relationships
Consistent fundraising articles in quarterly BCHA newsletters
TFF - Run its course? Absent a subchair, most of year
Had Legacy back off a bit to ensure short term FR is not affected
Corporate Sponsors
FACEBOOK: Partnered with Media/Marketing Success; need more social media contact; alle-mail blasts created by FR, so HQ could justcopy and paste for e-mails member-wide
Accomplishment: What we learned:Implemented e-blasts for end of year campaign No $ needed, all online; need more support
for year-round implementation
Giving Tuesday campaign More engaged donors; ability to upgrade theirdonations; donations outside of membershipwhen solicited online
Expand audience to non-members through FB, Instagram, Twitter and website followers Ease of donations on website needs attention;
support increased donations and reach more into non-member community
Communications plan created/still needs to be implemented organization wide Planned timing of communications from
various parts of BCHA would benefit all committees
● Streamline donor information - donor management system software being evaluated for possible purchase andimplementation
● Implement and follow through with communication, marketing and strategic plan● Streamlining donate page on website - w/b part of DMS - It’s way too complicated and frustrating to donate on the
website or change a donation currently● Promote employer match for donations - w/b part of DMS● Getting shelf ready projects from all committee chairs for grant searches - BCHA will search, apply and be fiduciary -
FL and CO were the only states to submit projects, need more● Google calendar underway for 2020● Worked with Investment Policy Task Force to create plan to invest Legacy funds for future BCHA operational access
- resolution brought to the NBM for review and approval; approved to send to NBM● Grants - developed a grant search form for folks to use to enable us to strategically search for appropriate grants● Communication plan for fundraising, membership, etc.● Communication calendar for targeted e-blasts year long - to include all committees and Randy’s schedule
Currently Underway
Goals● Create a plan for the future of fundraising - the 30,000 foot view so to speak● More Online Campaigns - National Trails Day, National Public Lands Day, Giving Tuesday● Implement December/Holiday/End of Year Chair Letter● Invest Legacy to earn more returns● Implement Partner Sponsor(s) - big name, a truck brand, a trailer brand, Carhart, etc.● Lock in some solid grant funding/foundation moneys● Need at least two more strong committee members - one being a grant writer to spread the wealth!● BCHA credit card? Tax on horse feed? License plate? Affinity program - round up to the nearest dollar at your local
Big R or feed store?● Do YOU have ideas? Then you need to be with us on this committee
The next several pages are samples of a communication plan and calendar for committees to implement targeted e-mail blasts to
our members to inform of current events, benefits, and just general BCHA happenings.
